 Awesome trail riding brother!
They way we do it here in Japan is we take that 1 1/2 hike and turn it into a 4 hour hike.
As you hike up session sections, pack you lunch then when to the top bomb down!

 Actually its more relaxing than busting up the trail if you have the time. Then up top you can each lunch and bomb down. Its also a great way to film lots of cool sections!

 @iffy: ya trail blazing is best at winter no one is usualy out when it is raining
and you can go back and trim bushes back or build jumps or even fined lines you never saw at high speeds.
