 With no real run in to get speed I suggest timing a half pedal stroke as the front wheel approaches the edge to pop the wheel up like when you start a wheelie.

 I don't even think half a pedal stroke is needed with how steep the transition is and how close it is to the rock. I think if he could have gotten a bit lower and shifted his hips back he could have pulled it out...but hindsite is 20/20. Looks like a fun rock feature.
