 Thanks rev, thanks baggy! Yes, the psychology of this is interesting.. I guess as we get older memories of pain and the process of ageing slow us down a bit and keep as flying a little closer to the ground. On this particular day I could tell that Ash was ready to give it a go. I think experiences like this are great for kids.. teaches them lessons they can take beyond mountain biking and into all aspects of their life.

 @buspilot: excatly what i meant BP, they don't have the fear of pain from crashing as much as we do, so they 'fear less', dunno why rev had to neg my comment? the bikes i had when starting jumps etc used to break and i suffered many injuries, the kids now have access to better bikes and kit....GO GO GO!!

 @baggyferret: I never negged your comment. Just commenting that Buspilot noted that the young one gets frustrated at times when the head and heart are not on the same page. That's all I was saying.

 @baggyferret: I did neg this comment. (face palm) Why do you have to make it personal? Fearless people end up doing stupid stuff. Ash isn't doing stupid stuff, just wrestling with the challenge of overcoming the voice in his head doubting what his heart is confident he can do. The unknown, and the imagined consequences of failure might be called fear... helps keep us from being over-confident when we don't have the experience to back up the urge to go for it.

 @reverend: i've read some of your other comments & you seem confused, trying to be clever at my expense isn't something I appreciate, I made a brief comment which you took out of context & had a dig at me, keep your negative comments in your head.
