PATAGÓN by Montanus

Patagón is a film that tells the adventure of Montanus during the exploration of a remote area of southern Patagonia, where, between the Austral Andes and the huge glacial lakes, the traditional Argentine culture of the gauchos still survives.

Wow. Has made me very jealous. I wonder how you plan a trip like this in terms of what trails to ride? I mean they probably crossed the lake having in mind a specific trail to catch? I sure want to get into bikepacking, it´s the ultimate adventure.

Glad you like it. Planning a trip is part of the game and that's why adventure begins at home. We use to study the area we intend explore, consulting local paper maps, helping with Google Earth, RWGPS and Wikiloc, watching videos and sometimes we have to rely on instincts and intuitions, as we did in Patagonia. Near Lago Argentino we had no chances to follow the planned route, because the territory’s morphology has been altered by water rising from the melting of Perito Moreno glacier, and the maps were unusable. But that gain this is adventure!

@MONTANUS: so you guys just improvised where you rode through when you foun no trail! Sweet. That´s real exploring then. Thanks for the answer. I will be on the look out for more cool content!

@stefanfresh: Yep, the same mindset we use when a gas stove doesn't work or we have some issue with gear in the middle of nowhere. You need to find an alternative, that's the why they call this sort of adventure "unsupported" and you have to find an alternative if you want to continue the trip.

Thanks @bjornalbi . We are working on some interesting bikepacking routes and, as John Muir said, "the world's big and I want to have a good look at it before it gets dark.” Ciao
