2020 Reign SX 29 test ride

Test ride for the Giant Reign 29 SX in Perth, Australia. I'm 6ft tall and this is a size large, its very long but i got along with it quite well. I will be testing a size medium in the future which i think will suit me better.

interesting, I'm 6'2" and was dead set on getting an XL reign 29, but after watching this I'm not sure. My current 2018 Reign 27.5 in size large feels small to me, but maybe this new reign 29 in Large would be the right size...

Same. I have one ride on an s5 specialized enduro (511 reach), and you can definitely feel it is long. But I grew used to 495 on my jekyll, though it took some time. Sadly I broke my collarbone in late June, had surgery in July, and was slow to recover and ride my trail bike lightly between. It was only at the end of my ride that I felt I could get the big boy airborne, but like this review noted early, it was just body positioning. I would love to try a size smaller to compare, but I am unsure. For both the Enduro and the Reign 29, I could go with the "large" size to be closer to what I ride now, or the XL to get more of a sled feel.

Oh, and reading a review of the reign 29 here (www.singletracks.com/mtb-reviews/2020-giant-reign-29er-a-whistler-test-ride-review), the reviewer suggested sizing up if you think you are between.
That is also what I figured since my tt length has remained fairly constant and comfortable over the last few years, but sta and thus reach has increased. S5 enduro was super comfortable to pedal and hit on the trails. I think just a smidge more hinge or lower of the bars would help offset weird feels, plus more time on the bike.

I've had a 1st ride yesterday on my large Reign 29 SX I'm 180cm tall). It's so much different than my old 2017 SX. So much more support in the suspension, you feel like you have less travel, feels bottomless actually. Amazing bike, and sizing is spot on. People spend too much time reading geo charts these days.

Oh and on 1st ride I've managed to set some PR's as well. Funnily enough last time I was in this place was dry and nearly 12 months ago so actually mental how comfortable you feel on this.
