as an american, I've never felt so connected to the downhill world cup. Gwin, you're an animal, and I'm sure you have and will inspire many more americans to follow the scene now that they've got a homegrown machine to cheer for. if you're reading this, keep it up, man!
@kona-stinky-trek - He is not saying just Americans...he's speaking for himself, as an American, saying thanks for uniting people in our country to support an athlete on the world cup circuit. It's okay to have a little respectful national pride...It doesn't exclude everyone else from supporting him.
Gwin proving once again that he can ride on another whole level. I have to say though, I prefer to watch Sam ride, so loose, so much roost... long live flats!
long live flats till they start losing by more than 8 seconds. for messing about, they're great, but I think a lot of the fastest riders in the past few years have been consistently proving that used properly, clips give you a lot more of an edge in the pedaling sections.
That was kind of my point without stating the obvious. Since Sam Hill has been fighting injury, no one has matched the speed of the clipped in riders. Gee, Minaar, and Gwin have owned DH racing the last few years. Gwin never once looked out of shape in his run, Minaar has a similar style. I just loved watching Sam ride fast and loose again.
Hey guys I know it has nothing to do with your comments but I know I won't get any answer if I post a message on the bottom... What kind of gear is Sam wearing? I've been looking for it on Troy Lee's website, on BTOsports, Google and all... I just can't find it! And actually that's the first time Troy Lee doesn't make a bright and disgusting purple/yellow/green/pink/orange gear so... Is that gear a special edition? I hope not... That would suck, his gears are badass for once! Thank you, and sorry again for this "Off-subject" (?) but I want to know!
This dude is so fast that they got to put it in slow mo to see him pass, i'll sure be there. At mont st ste anne to see gwin win eventough i'm a canadian and vote for steeve smith gwin is so fast i dont think he use his brake much!
I find winning by 7.8 seconds on a dry track more impressive than 12 on a wet track and the course in Champery is quite a deal longer. In the rain freak results occur a lot more often and the whole field is more spread out. Danny rode amazingly well that day but without rain he would never have won by that margin. On a dry track everyone is flat out and going as hard as they can, riding in the mud is different.
Either way both are hugely impressive but i personally find Gwin's win to be the more so.
This is exactly what happened in his race run in La Bresse last year; just pulled up his foot when pedalling on flats and crashed on a straight-forward piece of track.
Maybe that's what happens when you switch between flats and clips alot?
So frustrating because at both those races he looked on it!
Any1 can tell me what sort of accident or something Aaron had ? ( its about his teeth ) coz after his winning run at the finish he took his false jaw out of the box. Tnx.
Gwin's line choices are impeccable! It's like watching a work of art unfold before your eyes. It's so fast, but you can see the genius of it all in slow motion
Danny Hart and Minnaar are going to be on form this weekend, as Danny won the BDS here 2 weeks ago, with a snapped rear mech, and Minnaar's sheer power is bound to bring back some time.
When I met Danny, I asked if he was going to be using the whole of Hamsterley's 4x, he said "We are, but feel free to use it or ride with Me and Robin.." After his run, I went down and nearly wiped out his camera man..

Gwins run was amazing no doubt about it! Why are we even talking about Danny Harts run here?
