Gravity Logic and Snowmass Resort's newest trail - Valhalla

Jun 20, 2012
by Tyler Maine

Valhalla - Gravity Logic - Snowmass, Colo. from Aspen/Snowmass on Vimeo.

Valhalla, designed and built by Gravity Logic, invites the toughest riders – and those who strive to be – to experience this brand new trail with 2.75 miles of freeride terrain and more than 1,400 feet of vertical drop. Fit for intermediate to advanced riders, Valhalla features berms, jumps, bridges, table tops, a wall ride, drop zone, fruit bowl and rainbows. This trail begins at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola and descends down to Snowmass Base Village. Bound to become as mythical as its name – Valhalla's winding, twisting and turning trails will thrill even the most seasoned riders, lap after lap.

Hey guys, Dave from Aspen/Snowmass here. Glad you guys enjoyed the video. We're going to be shooting a complete trail overview on Tuesday with the help of an octocopter, zipline camera and talented riders. We'll also have a new photo gallery up on Sunday.

Damnit, Northstar really needs to see all these places doing so much work and start doing some themselves. I get tired of seeing all these sick trail updates and new builds from resorts, and then going back and riding the exact same trails I've been riding for 3 years at Northstar. Park looks sick, I'd love to ride there.

Ive ridden Northstar and its awesome, how many places have a watering system on their trails? I ride Keystone Colorado and Its sick, but outdated. Id love to see a buffed out freeride line like Valhalla on my home mountain. Its good to see mountains are progressing, and I am doing all I can to get Keystone to follow suit. Nice work Snowmass

Tease agreed. They only filmed a little bit of the newest section built this year. I thought the filming looked great though. I hope they come back and get some footage of some ripping!

Here is a POV of Valhalla top to bottom. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukw-Q7Zn9d0 The trail is decent. A couple spots flow is a little off(where I cut across the grass). Over jumping the jumps is very much a possibility if you know how to carry speed. The hardtail seems almost perfect for this trail. A 6" bike could help carry speed in a few sections. A DH bike takes work to flow through the trail. Riders I knew that started on their trail bikes then grabbed the DH bike switched back to the trail bike after a few runs.

This is my local track and it is awesome. Love riding all the other parks here in the high Rockies of CO but if you're in the area treat yourself to a day or two at Snowmass, you won't be disappointed. And yes,Mathis vid is just a tease, doesn't do it justice.

I'm over stuff like this- we've got ladders, berms, jumps, bridges and wall rides coming out of our ears over here in the UK. I long for a nice flat bank or a curb to jump off ;-) Tee hee. This place looks sweet!
