UCI World Championships Mont Saint Anne - Steve Peat Interview

Sep 4, 2010
by Aaron LaRocque
Steve Peat needs no introduction as he has won more World Cup DH races than any other racer and is the current World Champion. He has won at Mont Saint Anne FOUR times (1999, 2002, 2003 & 2004) and is looking to add to that again this year.

Enjoy the interview inside,

Tippie is the man. He was sending it on rickety 6 inch travel freeride bikes when most bashers were getting their diapers changed. Like it or not Brett was one of the original "freeriders". It took people like him, Schlayer and Simmonds to push our sport to what it is today. If it weren't for these guys mountain biking would still be about 3 inch travel Hardtail XC bikes and spandex. He has a great personality and is super approachable, unlike many of the other freeride pros I have met.

I agree. I met him in whistler and he was a laugh and super nice. Made me go back and dust off the kranked trilogy set. Burly shit he was pulling off back in the day.

Peaty loox like the Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.I'd be over the moon if he got back to back Worlds titles,if that were to happen he'd only need one more to "3 peat",lame i know but i couldn't resist.Seriousley though best of luck to Peaty on Sunday, the win is a massive possibility at Mont St Anne,it's arguably his favourite track, and i reckon he'll deffo podium,i just hope it's on the top step.Good luck Peaty.

It's kinda annoying. Other than that, he's awesome!

I have to say that I'd much rather watch Tippie interview a rider than anyone else that currently does it, so much character. Loving the interview onslaught!

they've known each other for years. Tippie is an excitable guy, but I would prefer that over the arrogant asses that seem to permeate this industry. He's friendly, knowlegeable, genuinely nice and his stoke factor is what made him take it to the limits freeriding, WC snowboarding & launching into the unknown back in the day. Not everyone has access to these guys like Brett does. I can take a bit of hyperness (and what's wrong with that anyway?) in exchange for him sitting down and getting us all interviews to watch. MTB is not a beige sport and there's all sorts of characters in it. thanks Pinkbike - I love watching these interviews. Cheers Smile

busted. He's my hubby and I'm very proud of him. I want to thank everyone who has been encouraging. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I have to voice mine too!

we need more characters in our sport, tippies a class act. his been through some dark times and the sports a lot better for having him around at events like this.
