To MatthewBolton, Its POD because it looks cool and photoshop is just another tool that today's photographer has at there disposal. Also next time try and be original, if you scroll down and look at WoundedKnee's comment its the same as yours (even the same number of question marks)and his comment was left 4 hours before yours. Did you think no one would notice?
why is there always some cockhead who says PHOTOSHOP to stuff that is not photoshopped or is obviously photoshopped? there sure are some wankers on pinkbike...
ok MatthewBolton, when it says photoshopped, it doesnt mean that the guy was photoshopped in, it just means that the pictures color and all that shenangens was edited
Very good shop. Embarrassing to admit how long it took me to realize the rider was shopped in, not just the lighting. For anyone that cares, here's the original riding picture. I took the time to find it, so I thought I might as well share.
My Photoshop CS4 class thats part of my "new media & webdesign" course at BCIT. We have to make a poster using all the techniques we learned this term, so color correction, layers, clipping masks, and pretty much other tool on photoshop. Im not finished yet, Dustin asked me to throw in a few of this sponsors for him, so the final version will look like a ad for Banshee Bikes, and Straitline.
And thanks corsair711 for linking to my original photo!
Wtf, why shud this be POD ?? yess i know that photoshopping pictures can look good but i think that Photo of the Day should be a proper photo rather than someones edited and "photoshopped " version... it looks good but i think that POD shud be unedited and original..
okay, so. this is neat, but when you merge two photos together like this, you need to make sure both of the things you're merging have been shot with the same light on them, rather than just dodging in a fake looking light ray or highlights from your imaginary flashes. just a little tip for ya pal, keep shooting.
This is def a pod. You gotta remember that a pro photographer does many things to make photos look good. So if you wanted a truly unedited and original photo, it would be hard to find. Props to the rider and photographer in this one, it cam together really nicely
WHAT A JOKE...IT'S A POOR CUT AND PASTE JOB...If your going to do photo editing you should at least be good at it. The perspective and lighting of the rider do not even come close to the background that was pasted in.
It's one thing to edit an original photo and colour correct it but it's another thing to totally Frankenstein the photo.... I agree all photos are edited but this one goes above and beyond
that was the whole point, its a for my photoshop class. We had certain tools and criteria that we had to use; including merging one or more completely different photos, next time read the description use some discretion.
just because the backgrounds photoshopped doesn't mean the trick is... why would i make him fake a tailwhip when he can do a real one unlike 99% of the kids on this site... www.pinkbike.com/video/103395
It´s not the "photo" is wrong or the guy who upload the file. The mistake is in given the POD to a scene that never exist. "Progression" you don´t have to give explanations, you said the true in the description.
I dont care for it, its obviously a cut and paste as soon as you look at it. So as neat of an experiment as it is - its not sucessfull imo. POD? I guess, its INTERESTING to look at, but mostly to try and figure out why it doesnt work.
this is a piece of crap why would you eant to make something fake and worthless this isn't POD its POS (PIECE OF SHIT) U DID GOOD WITH THE PHOTOSHOP BUT I DON'T EVER WANNA SEE A POD that's obviously photoshoped.
haha, to me it looks like hes doing some sort of funky dance in mid-air love this picture, have not seen anything like it for a while, the light, the place, and the whole PHOTO (y)
=0, nice composition, beautiful lighting, and amazingly cool color. Not to mention the trick the rider is doing. No doubt in my mind, POD worthy. Too bad its photoshop though.
finally, after days of mediocre shots, a POD that is truly stunning. hard to restrain myself, but this shot makes me wanna break out the lotion and kleenex hahahahahaha
www.pinkbike.com/photo/3493289 thats my original photo of dustin, then found another random photo i had on my computer, put them together then edited the lighting to look like it was shot with 2 flashes
You may be right, the lighting on the subject, and the background are very inconsistent, and where the edges of the ramp meet the trees is way off.
I've worked with photo-shop, and this has some of the tell-tale signs of an image being cut out and put onto another.
Although, if it is photo-shopped, the person who did it has some skill.
Plus it says its photoshop in the description.
If you're going to photoshop, you should make it truly epic -- why not have him doing a gap jump of the Grand Canyon or hucking off Mt Everest? Epic fail, not POD.
Because that would look shit, completely unbelievable and down right stupid. Remember, he's doing this for '"new media & webdesign" course at BCIT', not for POD. Props to him for being good at Photoshop.
