 Chris Akrigg could ride a 50lb beach cruiser on the trail and make it look like an amazing bike. Definitely one fof the best bike handlers in the biz!

 These bike are fantactic but I'm only just starting to learn that these kind of bikes take cash to look after properly . So far my 2013 bike has cost me £40 new sevice kit for forks . £40 for a tool to remove my pressfit BB. £50 new BB £95 shock sevice . £100 sevice rock shocx reverb . So if your new to bikeing be aware this kinder bike needs looking after and that does costs

 Well said. Not many retailers make their customers aware of the service-costs as they sell the bikes, but they should. My experience as a bike salesman and mechanic for years, is that salesmen are often a bit afraid of informing the customers about the costs of service in fear of scaring the customers off. The truth is actually usually the opposite. Being totally truthful and upfront with the customers, just shows that the salesperson knows what they are doing and creates a safe feeling in buying a bike at the retailer. Usually I say that the annual service cost for a full suspension bike that's being ridden through a season is somewhere around £400, not including parts being broken, such as wheels, drivetrain etc.

 In some cases you can learn to do it by yourself and reduce the cost, right? For some stuff you need to invest in tools but thats a one time investment.
But yeah. I would agree that my trust in a retailer is bigger when he informs me about the costs and doesn't hide it. I had some experience like this one day and changed my shop because of that.

 Invest in tools, ALL the information is online for DIY. if you can't figure it out Im sure you can find someone local who is enjoys doing it and would help you out. Tuning and servicing my bike is almost half of the fun as riding it!!! dont blow your money away!

 Meh, you dont HAVE TO service them every year. if you dont have the money or the knowledge.

 If you're riding it hard regularly, I don't think a bike would last a year without servicing without suffering significant wear. Little things like derailleurs being knocked out of alignment and wheels and rotors needing truing happen surprisingly often. Luckily you can get the tools to fix that kind of stuff cheaply if you know where to look, and it's fun to do!

 I had one of these for a few years. Along with a Black Diamond Triple 'Hence my used name'. The Teocali are very capable bikes. Did everything from XC racing to Enduro to light freeride and DJ. I had the Elite though, the comp is a bit cheaper in spec. The thing thats neat about them that I have never felt on any other bike of this genre' is that they will speed back up after a bump and are very positive to pumping the terrain. You can get going very fast, very quickly with the freedrive system. It does however, take some time getting used to and is not as plush as Masteo/FSR or Knucklebox. They are also a bit tippy and require/make you commit in corners. They are also very progressive with the rear ramping so they love to pop off things.

 I had a first gen mongoose khyber 08 or 09 I think. Great bike but the bearing axles in the sus linkage were a bit prone to wearing/snapping tho i did rag the shit out of it. I think they beefed up the linkage pivots in the later models, I loved mine, great bike.

 I had the same issue on my 07 Mongoose ECD DH bike, pivot pins were made out of cheap hollow tube and bent anytime you went near a jump or drop, I had to get custom made stainless steel pins, Apart from that it was a nice bike, always liked mongoose. good to see Chris back on the bike.

 I had an 09 model that I beat into the ground but it kept asking for more (for about 3 years). All of the beating took its toll however, rear shock had to be rebuilt once($75), replaced the BB once ($15), and put on X-Fusion Velvet forks ($350ish) after the rock shock tora 289 bit the dust. still managed to sell it for $500 a month ago! haha. great entry level bike in my opinion...

 shame they dont produce downhill bikes anymore. plenty of people thought that they were bad even though they havent ridden one themselves. personally i think that they are great bikes and i would of certainly got a boot'r for my next dh bike.

 You have a boot'r!!!!! Luckiest man alive I'm in the process of buying a nugget right now, their bikes in 2009 were some of the best bikes ever made its so sad that they stopped producing their highest quality stuff they were really good bikes and a fanomial brand!
