"Sad it Had to Come to an End" - Greg Minnaar Features on Santa Cruz's 'The Roller Door' Podcast
@karatechris: huuuuuuuge rat boy fan, I would've given anything for a 20 'teens 5010. Since the entire crumbling of that marketing scheme…. they redirected the brand and don't seem nearly as core as a brand as they once were.

Without the bike boom, they could've lived forever solely off of revenue from oldstock Shimano parts too :(

Checking in with 3 Female Rampage Hopefuls at Red Bull Rampage 2023
Listen, mate, I was apprehensive to make the comment to begin with because the last thing I want to do is point out a flaw in someone else's logic with flaws in my own. There are some fundamental differences in the positions themselves when we make such a comparison. But to be honest, let's look at it like this: The dude from the Dominican... He is getting up every day on his way to that pro spot in America and he absolutely has a day job until he gets here.... He is from a different walk of life lol and he is certainly cut from arguably stronger cloth than any of us in these comments. There are just an awful lot of pretty faces with $60,000-$100,000 van builds upset BUT NOT UPSET ENOUGH TO Go GET A JOB.. What I am saying is there is so much privilege in our sport and WAY TOO LITTLE COLOR to compare the battle any Dominican baseball player fights, to the predominately WHITE AND RICH mountain bikers female or male... out of touch. And no Cayon.... you can't give Brad Sims 70k worth of bikes and expect that to close a gap in our sport we are all so very very aware of but so conveniently never speak of... if we are gonna be woke

@luckynugget: And see this is the same angle I naturally approached it from too. At my peak I was absolutely struggling to race and balance work and as a sensible adult I did the math and switched it up. My primary focus shifted from the racing itself to doing well in work to support myself through school... working a real job to support what I wanted to do in my free time. Yes at some point even if you are the only girl that can actually throw a whip or flat spin... you have to grow up too. Get the fuck over it, everyone else has. When we give people media coverage unfortunately it feeds their ego and they think they deserve stuff.... Everyone has to work for their stuff.... and that means if you want an event to take place you need to find the funding YOURSELF and do the work to organize it. I do just think it is absolutely fascinating that all 3 of these "should've been invited females" share a unique perspective on this as pointed out in the write-up though... none of these girls had ever even been to the event before. Do you guys hear yourselves speak?? You want an invite to the pinnacle event for our sport and you fuckers haven't even spectated it???? I'm not going to sit here and act like these ladies... all of them are not skilled. They are sick, that's understood. But dude come on lol

Kitsbow to Close After Financing Shortfall
@pandafoo: "priced in", is such an interesting way of wording "costs passed on to customers, disguised as a convenience." There are a large number of brands that offer lifetime repairs: REI, LL bean, Columbia etc. Ultimately, they couldn't make their business work even with Old Fort wages.

@cmi85: .... What do you mean, say you want the new SRAM stuff. You go get UDH frame and the new SRAM transition.... first dub: you literally need a whole new bike to bolt the new SRAM stuff on. Second win: You spend $2500 for the shifter, derailer, cassette, chain, and cranks, yes wait two weeks to check that price. You can buy a complete full-suspension bike for the same cost as the drive system alone. In releasing their new drive train they also phase out their older, widely compatible components forcing consumers to make changes or work with products that are considered obsolete by the brand and no longer offer support for. Then, you go on your first ride and obviously smack the new drivetrain into a tree. But it turns out that the UDH setup is so strong it rips out of the frame leaving the transition fully intact. So here's how SRAM really wins: You the consumer looks like a complete assclown for being a part of the extremely small group of rich assholes who spend their money on dumb products that require batteries for essential function at your local trailhead. Just don't forget you're better than everyone else because you have e-cockpit on your not electric bike!!
