Fast he is, humble he is not

Confidence is key. Would you rather hear him talk about how he is fine with being beaten by his competitors?
  • 3 1
he`s not even using the demo anymore
  • 3 4
You almost never see a humble winner
  • 10 7
He is not the best rider in the world.........I am......ha ha ha have a great sunday riding everybody Cheers

tom666 i dont even know why your comment has so many bad votes, i completely agree. I mean, its true that you never see a humble winner but he just took it to the next level. That video is pre-2013 season and show exaclty why he sucked at 2013. He thought he had it cause he was fast as hell and let his guard down.

tom666 and VagelisB786, you guys might want to check this out, might change your opinion:

mpora.com/videos/AAdrgl7maweq

Gwin, Stevie, Rat Boy, tom666's countryman Gee, Minaar, Bruni, etc etc etc, they all think they are the fastest and best there is, that's exactly why they go to compete at this level. Gee, Stevie, Gwin have all proved it with dominating seasons, 2 consecutive history making seasons in Gwin's case, and these types of personalities will always be up at the top. Look at the retrospective video of last seasons WC series, talking with Stevie and Gee about their seasons. Many guys bagged on Gee for his seriousness and over competitiveness, no smiling and pursed lips, and loved Stevie because he was the new "laid back" guy. But you watch that video and you'll see that number one the two of them had HUGE respect for one another because they know what it takes to get it done at that level, and also that they both have the seriousness and fire in their eyes when they're talking about racing and winning, period. Look at Stevie's training, or any of the top guys, and you'll see how serious they all take it, and how much confidence they have in themselves. Gone are the beer swilling bro days at the races fellas, like it or not, to much at stake and the margin for error is way too small now, the field isn't 6 deep anymore for guys with a legit chance of winning with a couple of wild cards who could win if luck god their way, it's 20 deep for guys with a legit shot every race, with another 20 or 30 wild cards who could lay one down if conditions and luck go right. Just enjoy the action, because we might be seeing a real golden age right now.

If he had said he was the best in the world and then went on to win the world cup and place highly in the world champs I would call it confidence in his own ability.

However, he went on to not win a single race in the 2013 world cup series, having claimed he was the best in the world before the series start. Is that confidence, or is that arrogance?

I personally have a lot more respect for a humble athlete than somebody who thinks he is better than he is.

catfish9797 i totally agree. Its just that when i saw videos like the one above it seemed to me like he was just bragging about his acomplishements(which is ok but he took it too far). I really liked him bofore the 2013 season and i still like him this year. he just thought he could get off easy based on his results before 2013. But none of that matters cause he's back to full speed this year Smile yeahhhh

Gwin said he was best according to the standings, that was fact, he WAS the guy to beat
  • 1 0
Tom666 he said he was the best in the world because he just won the wc overall. Not sure about you but to me that says at the moment he was the fastest in the world. This video was made before the 2013 season don't forget.

It probably became popular again after his win at Pietermaritzburg. Maybe guys who are newer to the sport looked him up and found that video, and the rest of us remember how sick it was and watched it again!
