Cycling BC has released the 2016 DH BC Cup Calendar and with it a few updates to their program too. 2016 looks to be one of the strongest BC Cup series to date and it will all start with a staple of the series, Race the Ranch on May 29th at the Kamloops Bike Ranch. Those that have been training this winter on and off their bike will definitely have the advantage going into round one and be the favourite to post the fastest times. To help you plan your summer travel I have laid out the full BC Cup race schedule below. Whether you are a racer, parent or a spectator, you will have a great weekend from start to finish at every round!

CCNbikes.com.As I build the series into one of the best, I’ve had to make small changes to the series as I move it forward. Not everyone will like every change, but you must understand that I really want the BC Cup series to not only be fun, exciting and well run, but I want it to mean something, not only to those that win, but the sponsors that support the series and racers alike. Since being involved in BC Cup racing since 2008, the BC Series has increased prizing, event exposure, decreased registration wait times and introduced improvements such as seeding runs, women only practice times, Saturday night events like whip offs and long jumps and champagne with oversized checks on the podiums. We can’t rest there. I need to make the changes below as one step for 2016 towards 2017 when we invest even more on what winning the BC Cup overall means. Winning the BC Cup overall should be a very proud moment for the racer, parent and sponsors and the award, recognition and exposure should reflect it. For 2017, I’m planning on a solid investment from Cycling BC, SE Racing, and sponsors to ensure that the BC Cup Series is the best DH series in Canada and I hope everyone will continue to support the series as we work towards this goal.
~The 2016 series winners will be awarded based on their best 5 out of 6 events - The series finals in Fernie are not mandatory.
~All UCI licensed riders are eligible to win the BC Cup overall as you do not need to reside in BC to win the BC Cup overall.
~Seeding runs will be offered at each event and will determine start order for your race run, but will not count towards series overall points.
~Awards for the overall will be given to the winners in all licensed categories, special awards will be handed out for first place in Junior Ex, Elite Men and Elite Women at the Cycling BC awards dinner in the fall of 2016.
