Round 3 of the
Osprey BC Enduro Series was in the sunny warm location of Penticton. This round was supported by
Freedom Bike Shop and
Bush Pilot Guides. The rain was persistent earlier in the week to tame the dust down, then the sun was in full swing come the weekend.

FULL RESULTS: Here
OVERALL SERIES POINTS: HerePenticton boasted a whopping 6 stages and 1500m of descending. The line up at stage 1 proved that everyone was sneaking out on the course early to get a head start on the heat of the day, while the back of the packers managed to be out there for over 6hrs!
This round raised $1250 for the local trail network. Osprey BC Enduro Series donated $1250 to PACA (
Penticton and Area Cycling Association), who have worked hard to get this network of trails sanctioned with a section 57 and working hard to maintain the trails, getting it ready for the race and continually improve the area. Thanks PACA!
Bean Around the World were set up at registration serving their Cold Brew coffee to all the riders to get them jacked for the day - the brew was so good that I personally had about 5 cups and I wasn't even riding.
Stage 1 Rainbow Trail: threw riders right into the course with some tech sections right off the bat that lead to a healthy amount of crashes and showing riders what Penticton had to offer and was all about. But bruised and battered bodies didn't stop the riders from continuing on course for the rest of the day!

Stage 2 Bronco: this trail stepped it up another notch with some tough sections where speed checks had to be in order to stay on the trail.

Stage 3 Corral to Raven to Lower Boneyard: started fast and furious, with a midway pedal, then into some more tech rock features.
Photo: Junior Neve Abraham taking the lead over Max Edwards
Stage 4 Fred to High Roller to lower drops: became a favourite - the new rollers that the locals just put in this week for the race held up solid.

This of course lead to the BACON STATION, where Shaun and David and the local crew had the BBQ cranking all day, they went through 10kg's of bacon, a bunch of food and 180 liters of water!
Stage 5 Eagle to Mule Deer to Fred: was another stage favourite. Local lines on Eagle helped with some tough tech moves that then lead in to some high speed flow on Fred and was the longest stage of the day.
Photo: 14 year old Max Edwards from Whistler
Stage 6 Lower Slabs: was a navigation process to pick your way down through the rocks trying to see which way the trail goes, then to skull coaster and the spectators view point / heckle station of the Compression Jump with the fast smooth dusty swoops of Tsweet Tsue to finish the day.
Photo: Trying to stay focuses on the trail and not the views was a hard task in this area
Photo: 17 year old Conrad Murdoch hitting the compression jump and giving the spectators something to cheer about.
With a 3 min coast down the road, riders were at the lake with a swim to cool off, taco voucher to be fed and then some
Bad Tattoo Brewery beer to seal what was a fantastic day. The 3 kegs got tapped out just after awards with perfect timing.

The random prize draw is always the highlight, with
Osprey packs and
Smith Optics Sunglasses up for grabs, along with product from
Race Face,
Alpinestars, and
Fouriers bike parts.
This rounds
Bond Training 2 x $50 cash prizes went to the male and female with the most flats. Penticton takes a told on bikes and tires! The male's prize went to a guy that had 4 flats and the female was split between 2 of them that had 3 flats each.
The locals and community here are second to none - we had 20+ volunteers out that were so excited to help, show off their trails, provide excitement to the event and be a part of it all. Those that helped prepped the trails for the race (Shaun, Brent, Dave, Franz, Travis and more) and build safer features on course (Shaun), cutting down trees that had fallen on the trail, providing shuttles to mark the course, offering their house up for the finish line (thanks Ira), sweeping and cleaning up the entire course and being out there for 8+ hrs (Brent and Johnny) and all the rest of the 20+ volunteers that were out there for the full day -
THANK YOU! Results: All podium winners walked away with all sorts of goodies from cash to Osprey Packs to Race Face product to Alpinestar products. They all each got a fresh bag of Bean Around the World Coffee as well. If you didn't receive yours, we will have them ready for you at Vernon.
It was very close on the overalls series winners for this round for taking the
Kazoom Leader Jersey's. Had James Reenie been 1 second slower today, then Jamie Bulik would have taken the win, but alas he wasn't so James Reenie holds on to it for another round. For the women Leonie won 4 out of the 6 stages with a crash on stage 1 and a flat tire on the last stage that cost her the win. But still a solid effort that allowed her to also hold on to the Kazoom Leader Jersey.
