We are really proud to introduce "handmade" a short film by Gary Perkins, edited by Kat Millar. Filmed on location at our factory in Pietermaritzburg South Africa, we hope that it will give you some insight into the heart of Morewood. Enjoy. Regards, The Morewood Crew.
@ ManuelMTB haha - I didn't mean to start "El Revolucion de Vital". One might say that you are "crossing the border" into Vital territory. Whoops, that might have been 'nationalistic'?
hey, i like pinkbike and vitalmtb too. i also check bikeradar and bikerumor as well for new stuff. doesn't hurt to check every site related to our beloved sport/hobby or whatever you call it. in the end, we all win.
Wow! I just want this company to be more successful "even tho they are", cause I now know how much hard work they put in on every frame, just *frame* they sell complete too so after the hard work on frame they still have to put all the parts! man!! that's dedication there! PROPS a lot!!
Thanks to everyone at Morewood Bikes for making such an awesome, solid product. Cannot say enough good things about my Makulu, an amazing bike, solidly made, performs amazingly well, and simple/excellent design and perfect execution for the task in hand. Good luck for the future guys.
Rode a Kalula last year and just worked so well for me and my riding style (or lack of depending on who you ask). Great bikes and this was cool to see some of what happens to create them.
I love my 2011 Makulu! Best DH bike I have ridden so far....which is a lot! Rear end is alive and dialed! eats up the chatter and brake bumps! Turns faster, smoother and lower! Did I mention that this bike is really FAST! Came off of a Cove Shocker to the Morewood Makulu. Best transition I have ever made. Thank you Lance Tueller!
Cool video guys, but that song was in Life Cycles, think you would have been better not using a tune that was in such a big bike movie, plenty of tunes out there....like this one for instance: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug0y1ZhdHT0&feature=player_embedded
Interesting how such well these incredible bikes come together, and the dedication, effort and time has to be put into these bikes to make them perfect
Not all, visit the trek factory or giant and they have machines which are connected to their computers and controlled by the employers designing the bikes that way...instead of pushing a machine against the frame to design certain bolt points or nut rings etc they physically grab a smaller machine and do it themselves. Did you see the yellow greasy liquid, and their hands running through it as well as labelling.
All bike frames are handmade! Frame components like BB shells, headtubes, and shock mounts are made by CNC machines at any mass-production bike factory. Hand-milling would be too labor-intensive to make money, as well as varying in accuracy. If you want a truly handmade bicycle, you'll have to stick to a small-scale manufacturer. They are out there, but most of them work with steel rather than aluminum, and you'll find that they are usually a one-man show. That, my friend, is truly handmade. Great video though!
Really cool vid, its so awesome to see what goes into making high end bike frames. Does anyone know who does the song in the vid? it sounds like the Glitch Mob?
