One of the fastest-changing areas of mountain biking could be said to be AMTBs. The technology, some of which is shared with e-bikes, is enabling more and more people to get into the sport that we're all so passionate about.

Three riders, Stacy Kohut, Alex Cairns, and Cole Bernier, came down to our Squamish HQ to talk us through where the sport is, as well as where it's going. In this far-ranging chat, we talk about the tech, the trails, and whether the industry is truly set up to embrace this burgeoning sector of the sport.

Awesome to have this coverage! There's some neat stuff happening on the east coast for adaptive riding as well. Checkout the Kelly Brush foundation and Vermont Adaptive!

This type of content needs way more attention. I've had the chance to demo a couple different hand cycles and that opened my eyes to what people are capable of. Seeing photos of riders throwing whips and rolling steep slabs on their machines is unreal, but partially understanding the sense of freedom a paralyzed person can get from using an adaptive MTB is even more inspiring. Take any chance you can to talk to or ride with folks who rely on adaptive bikes, to learn about adaptive bikes, or to learn about adaptive trails and trail access and keep this momentum going.

It warms my heart to see this field of riders and options flourish. And for those of you that snub your nose, remember, you're one bad accident away from being so grateful these bikes exist.

I agree that there needs to be more exposure in the adapted world, these guys are badasses! I know its not in the mtb world, but Felipe Nunes has a monster energy drink sponsor, dude is definitely an athlete that has drive and gratitude that is rarely seen in the able bodied world. Much respect to all these athletes, they are an inspiration to us all to get out and dig deep!

Thank you for doing this podcast.
A few ideas/questions for a possible follow-up.
1. Could you get someone from Whistler or a professional trail builder to speak about their considerations towards adaptive riding when rating a trail's difficulty or working on building or modifying an existing trail? I wonder if it even comes into many builders minds when designing new trails.
2. Could we get a walk-through video on these bikes? It would be cool too see them up close with some background from the riders
3. Is there a race series for these guys? It sounded like there might be, but just really small still? I definitely may have mia-heard. It would be cool to hear from someone involved in those races or who may be trying to startup their own.

I met and rode a lap with Stacy in Whistler last year. He was cool enough to let me follow him and then explain to me what he needs in a trail so when I build them he can ride them. Basically the only requirement; I needed to be able to fit my handlebar between hard stops.
