Selected by Ian Hylands - At first glance the thumbnail of this image doesn't look like much, but closer inspection reveals the rider absolutely blasting out of this berm, dirt flying, front wheel off the ground... Composition is basic thirds, the lighting doesn't really do much for me, but the riding is sick, and sometimes that's all it takes
unless you're high speed syncing i think that would just induce more problems with a shedload of highlights coming into focus due to having to drop to a smaller aperture in order to sync.
ScottB, it's really hard to say not having been there at the time. I might have simply waited on different light, or set up two or three lights to highlight the rider a bit, but like I said I wasn't there so I can't really say. I wasn't implying there was anything wrong with this photo the way it is, I just personally like the rider to stand out a little more usually...
Thanks Ian...just wanted to get a bit more in depth opinion is all! I always like to hear what people would change about a photo, it helps me learn and improve my shooting I've noticed.
No Sarcasm intended! I've taken photographs of riders - check out my pics! If riders are wearing black/brown/dull gear then when the background is usually earth tones etc then the overall picture can lack any colour! If there is high contrast in the photo, then this is where it can usually look better converted to B&W. Oh, and I've got Fork Juice for my stanchions, cheers, :-)
