Ask Pinkbike: Back to Flats, Inches of Squish for Enduro, and Pondering the Next Upgrade
In enduro racing, you are only times for descent, so you are incentivized to ride as close to a DH sled as you can get up the mountain. So long travel fits the bill and can work great. Plus, enduro course have in many places become doing multiple downhill level runs in a day. If points were there to be gained by doing your transfers faster, people would ride more "trail" bikes. This is all a huge generalization obviously, but 160-180mm bikes are more about making it up the hill and shredding down as opposed to climing and descending back and forth. BUT, 160mm bikes are really starting to climb well, so even that line is getting blurry.

Win a Rotor Prize Package - Pinkbike's Advent Calendar Giveaway
This would be awesome. I hate my 3x SLX cranks because I need SUPER specific chainrings to run 1x.

Share The Ride: One Month to Go - Donate and Win
I'm pretty sure Specialized will donate/ sell a number of these bikes to the cause at cost. This will allow them to write it off on taxes etc, but it's also great promotion for them. So to answer you question, if they were buying these bikes at full cost you would be right, but they are going to get a killer deal from specialized (I would assume). Also, I don't know the balance bike market all that well, but I don't know if little kids bikes demand the same premium as their dentist machines.

2017 Pinkbike Awards - Component of the Year Nominees
I'm pretty sure XT won last year. I prefer it to Sram, but this award is for new stuff in 2017. 2017 was supposed to be the year of electronic XT, but it turns out nobody cares.

The 2017 Pinkbike Festive Gift Guide
Nothing says modern bike culture like a 150$ beer jug and a 180$ shirt. At the same time, I'm all for it. I think people bitch too much about "consumerism." POC sponsors events and riders, as do fox and every other brand we complain about being too expensive. If you don;t want something, move along. I am thinking about how to make my own growler keg though, the only thing special there is the lid and some fittings.

That's why awesome warranties/product support is temporary at best. Remember how great REI was? You could return anything, any time for any reason? Then people started thrashing their stuff and returning it for new gear, and now REI has changed their policy because people suck.

Race Face Introduces Carbon Wheel Guarantee
@jaame: When will the bicycle industry accept its role in our impending Kaiju doom? That's why I only pilot Aluminum Jaegers, easier on the wallet, and better for the environment after I spill 25 tons of acidic monster goop into the ocean.
