Opinion: Keeping the Spark Alive
@JWP: I think (at least in the UK) that in areas like Dyfi this is true. The level of riding is outstanding and the secret stuff that is currently evolving does push you. Perhaps this links to the 1 bike to do everything idea. However the 2018 Spark referenced to in the article would still be an amazing bike to ride most off piste spots in England in my opinion.
At least where i'm from you will head down to the local jump park, or XC trail centre to see literal hordes of overbiked riders on full factory builds, full fat e-bikes, maven brakes etc... to go ride medium sized jumps and XC trails in Suffolk. It's that idea of "well i'll use it on my 1 trip to BP Wales this year to ride the blues" that drives this behaviour.
