I think its a matter of taste. In my opinion POD's should be about what we like about mountainbiking. So while some ppl value "shredding" and appriciate if POD's focus on that, other people might value the experience of being outdoors in a nice surrounding more. Since it's hard to wrap every aspect in one picture, a daily change of POD allows for a coverage...

How much fun is it to spectate ? I m living 1.5 h from Aosta and considering to go there on the weekend. However looking at the pictures of the last stage of EWS in Valloire it seemed like there was no crowd. Any experience ?
