Home of the Monster T - Inside the Eastern European Vintage Freeride Scene
I love everything about this thread! This is what got me into mountain biking originally. I used to love riding around town and hucking off stuff on my old Stinky/Monster T.
Graduated to a Karpiel Apocalypse with a Super Monster! Then a Banshee Scream with the Super Monster!
Finally, my dream bike: https://www.pinkbike.com/photo/8889457/ BMW Big Link with full Avalanche MTN gear. 67 lbs of steel awesomeness. I miss that bike so much...ended up selling it and I regret it every day!
I used to ride those bikes everywhere...to work, around town, on the trails, shuttling...whatever. Just out having a good time and hucking off stuff.
Thank you for posting this! Really brought back a lot of memories!

@5afety3rd: Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on shops. I just have had so many bad experiences lately that I preferred to start doing everything myself.
I also think, even if you don't do the work yourself, that having at least a passing knowledge of how different components on your bike work means that you are more likely to identify when something is wrong or how to fix it in an emergency/last minute situation.
Also...some of us are in the situation of spending what we can scrimp/save on our bikes and do not have the extra money to pay a shop to maintain it. Shops always have the triathlon geeks! They love to spend money...

@5afety3rd: I had the same experience Monkeybizz did and the shop I went to is the "best" in my area.
Sometimes the shops near you suck.

Throwback Thursday: 5 Mountain Bike Race Formats That Never Caught On
I thought road rage was kind of neat when it started. I came from riding road bikes first and I thought it was neat seeing the top mtb pros of the time lining up with some pro roadies.
My favorite part of the first one was Brian Lopes in full aero kit with fairings bolted to his mtb getting demolished by Myles Rockwell on a bone stock Giant road bike.
