Downhill Tech Randoms - Leogang World Cup 2024
@dougfs: Decline Mag even had a solid how to guide on rim swaps. Incredibly helpful for my first time. Not as common with carbon rims these days but it’s a thing

Moots Announces New MXC Titanium Hardtail
@st-lupo: Shill it on PB? It’s a press release like any other. Idk, PB may seem like a different audience but if I could afford one I certainly would. I’d entertain selling a kidney too lol. They’re rideable art that oozes quality that most anyone can appreciate. The money is in the details and you can ride all the shuttles and chairlifts you want and still own a sick hardtail. Personally I think everyone should. Maybe not Ti but they’re excellent tools for providing instant feedback on line choices

Moots Announces New MXC Titanium Hardtail
@bubbrubb: They have something of an older demographic…young people just don’t typically buy their bikes for obvious reasons. You may not like it but I bet it’s right up there with their other top sellers already. Electric bikes just sell. It’s like pulling teeth selling a $4000 bike but 6k+ e-bikes sell themselves. Just the way it is

Gravel dropper and a shim lol. Really fits the lugged frame aesthetic of late

Tech Randoms Round 1 - Bielsko-Biała DH World Cup 2024
@h8terbike999: The freedom coast levers are a bit chunky for my taste but I like my levers super close to my grips. Side note: one of my freedom coast levers creaked shortly after install. Ended up taking the lever off and lightly greasing all the mating surfaces. Been silent going on 9ish months. DHR EVOs btw.

Video: The Latest Tech from the Fort William World Cup | The New Foxxer?
Got to see the whole rainbow at Interbike lol. Almost pulled the trigger for my 66 RC3 Evo Ti but according to them red turns pink rapidly when exposed to UV light. Plus it was about $400 extra per leg for a 888 (~1200 USD at the time I believe). Maybe it was just a cheeky comment but they said that if fox wanted to add colors then they could too. I laughed but Kashima is its own blend and wayyy different to TiNi. I uncovered a good write up when it was new to the bike industry in Decline Mag. Yay for spring cleaning

First Look: BikeYoke Revive Three Dropper Post
The whole saggy post thing and not picking up bikes by a compressed dropper post definitely originated with the Reverb. It felt better than everything else when it worked, but it wasn’t durable enough at the time. I’ve seen dropper levers with too much cable tension that would occasionally cause the post to slip but that’s it aside from normal warranty issues with a cartridge or actuator failure. The only reason Gravity Droppers were as prevalent as they were was because they didn’t break much when the 2 most popular posts at the time were the Reverb and the CrankBros Joplin. The Joplin design may have been bought from Maverick back when. If someone knows for sure let me know.

Randoms Round 1 - Sea Otter 2024
@Inertiatic: They ship with a drive and non-drive spoke just fyi. Still not cheap or convenient at $7-8 a spoke but I’ve only managed to brake one doing a nasty stoppie on a 24 spoke front wheel in the last 10 years. I unthreaded the long end from the hub (way more convenient than a j-bend spoke unless you get really lucky) and rode it several times before replacing it. There’s definitely something to those spokes (the easiest rim swaps ever, unique ride feel, colors if you’re into that) but if Onyx made a compatible hub I’d be all over that. I think Onyx has a superior design despite the weight. Just food for thought.
