I don't like drones

I'm 175cm. For one year i rode 2021 Trance X in medium size. I changed 40mm stock stem for 50mm because i felt way to cramped on uphill. Then i decided to sell my M bike and i bought same bike in large size. I tested 50, 45, 40mm stem. On flowy easy trails bike felt good. Also with 50mm stem was good to ride. But uphill i was way too stretched. 40mm felt almost perfect uphill. But on steep technical terrain was yet too long. So i bought Renthal 33mm stem and now is perfect to ride. Extreme short stem made bike very lively. I didn't notice so much less front grip because of extreme short stem. 3cm between sizes considering reach length should not be such a problem. I think it is easier to make long bike shorter than short bike bigger. So if you between sizes i would go with bigger bike and shorter stem. That worked for me. But everyone is different.

I upgraded my X1 with 160mm air shaft. It is big improvement. I think this bike is made for 160mm fork.
