Boulder County Proposes Major Trail Restrictions for Mountain Bikers
I was thinking the same thing. 99.99% of trail users don't ride horses. Horse riders are the lowest on my priority list. They take up huge volumes of the trail, poop all over it, and their trailers in the parking lot take up 3 car slots.

Boulder County Proposes Major Trail Restrictions for Mountain Bikers
Heil Valley is great. I literally just did 20 miles there a few weeks ago. My biggest disappointment since moving to Colorado 7 years ago is how little mountain biking there is to do in Boulder. Restricting access will just kill what's left of it in Boulder.
"Heil Valley Ranch alone is down 23% in two years, from 85,467 visits in 2023 to 66,030 in 2025."
This is a very misleading statistic. Heil Valley got torched a few years ago from fires, so the trail system was closed for a long time and is slowly reopening. A lot of people don't even realize that it has mostly reopened. The declined in visitation has absolutely nothing to do with mountain bikers.
