Most of Europe is definitely in a better place than the US and the UK though.

@ohio: has there ever been a time when so many people, with so little knowledge, challenge highly qualified people who have spent years studying their subject. His climate change denial being one example... even the thickest person on the planet can see than burning billions of tons of carbon will change the make up of the atmosphere, yet here we are.
Whilst politicans negotiate with big business behind closed doors, for their own gain, here are we, the working masses, arguing about whatever Trump, Starmer or pretty much any politican/government/corporation spins off to the media to divert away from their corrupt actions.

@chrisclifford: its not about physical exertion at all. Distance to the trails and the demands of family life mean that time is tight. If you have a couple of hours a week to ride, why waste it? Climbing is fine, but descending is so much more fun. Technology has allowed me to maximise my time in the most enjoyable way. Midweek its the gym - and I'd choose descending over that too if it was an option.

Frameworks DH Bikes Stolen in Milton Keynes, UK
@Steventux: live here and love it. Major city, with the same issues as many other large cities (NY/Paris etc). Love leaving it to go and bike, also brilliant coming back.
Our current government cares only for itself. Maybe labour will fix some of the issues, maybe not. But anything is better than the conservatives.

@blueH2Oj: I feel very sorry for your friend. But, the vast majority of individuals I come across on e-mtbs, are mountain bikers. Those of us who have ridden for many years, would not be riding in areas they shouldn't, in such an uncontrolled manner. The blame here is squarely on the reckless individual, not the bike. I mean, look at how many idiotic car drivers there are.
