I use a 7speed dh shifter on my Enduro rig but then use an alu hg freehub and the bottom 7 gears of a wide range 11 speed cassette. The hd and alu hg freehub weight the same. I was using the 11-28 from the sunrace 11-50 cassette which weighs 185gram so only 35g more than this 500buck all alu one! It is all steel cogs and is 50 grams lighter than the GX 11-25 and gave 3 easier teeth. The top 3 cogs are attached to a alu spider so don't dig in to the alu freehub which saves 70g over a steel one. I could use the XO dh short cage mech for this set up. Now currently using a cheap Bucklos ebay special 11-52 which cost 30quid as I can get the 11-28t range over 6gears then ive added a miche final drive alu 32t 7th gear. Still all 11speed spacing and using the 7s shifter. The 11-32 cassette now weighs 200g so still lighter than the GX 11-25! Total cost was 50quid. Now using a medium cage GX cassette. Ran both set ups with a XX1 gold 12 speed chain to give slightly more clearance between gears. Paired with a Inspired bikes 22t front ring with built in bash guard on my Kavenz. Totally class set up. Never had an issue with a mech bending or even miss shifting in 2 years. When my current wheel shits itself I will build a new one on a Hope dh hub as this allows for 7gears on hg and has wider symmetrical flange spacing.

@gearbo-x: Every single Virtual high pivot came out after Kavenz brought out the VHP 16 in 2021. They documented designing and building it in 2020 and Mike Kazimer first rode it in early 2021 and gave it a glowing review. Cannodale Jekyll, Hope Hb916 , Norco Sight, Trek Slash, Velduro Rogue and now this all followed.

We should be able to vote on an article rather than just comments. When the article reaches a negative number, say -10, like this one would, it just gets moved to trash.

"Unobtanium brakes on the Apogee" - Does anybody know what brand of brakes these are?

@vinay: I've been doing this aswell and using a tpu tube, saved 60g over the original tube. I do think this system is lighter still and easier to install.
