The first video in a new series highlighting unique individuals in the mountain bike community. The Transition Characters series is about story telling, whether it's a sponsored rider, trail builder, employee, or community member, the aim is to highlight the influence this person has on the mountain bike community we know and love. The subtitle, "Tales from the Trails" was inspired by doing the interviews out on the trail in the woods, where people are most in their element. We hope you enjoy this piece about Angi, and the videos to come.

Angi Weston is a professional mountain bike skills coach, an all-around great human, and loves to party in the woods. Sit back and enjoy getting to know her, and hearing her journey through the mountain bike industry as she made her way full circle and landed right where she wanted to be.

Angi looking relatively serious before she drops into some steep and wet roots, a rare sight of her not smiling.

We were hoping for fog, and fog was delivered, with the addition of sideways rain and hail. Typical day in the PNW. And how bout that cornering technique eh?

Filming can be stressful, especially with some of the worst weather conditions possible, luckily Angi makes it pretty much impossible to not have fun.

Hell yeah to Angi, super friendly person and fantastic rider--I learned a ton just following her down a couple trails. And holy CRAP, that tree impact!

Me too! I'm so glad no carbon Smugglers or Angi's were harmed in the making of this film. Ha!

@Angi: phew!! Either soft trees over there or very tough ladies!

Inspirational video Angi! And biased to TR as a proud scout owner!
  • 1 0
@jamesdippy: Ha! Well, I can't say the tree was soft... She didn't budge! I think I just got lucky and/or have had plenty of crash-practice in my nearly 20 years of mtb'ing. Wink
The Scout is such a fun bike! I am building up my Patrol now... Can hardly wait!

Loved her last video with Kona. Clicked straight away on this one. Good pick, Transition!

Jealous every time I see a beer tap at a workplace....! Her schedule will be booked for a long time, imo there are a bunch of beginners, novice, ladies, older folks ..... sort of curious in the wings, that want her type of training.....such a gap between the riders who grew up on bmx/mx/mtb and those wanting to take it up. Kind of a wise choice for Transition too, she likely can reach a ton of people.

I would bet that even riders in the pro cat would come out of a session with improved riding! I (male, 23, cat 1 rider) just had a very effective advanced cornering lesson last week and can tell she's got loads of knowledge and experience on tap. Also her rates are way more affordable than other resources in Bellingham so yeah, she's gonna stay busy for sure!

@gootytown: Thanks! That was a fun session. I hope it is paying off for you!

As a Transition owner myself (Covert v3, since 2011) really happy to see these kind of videos. Angi seems like an example to follow. More histories like this please.

we need more girl riders videos!!!! Keep it coming...

Why didn’t anybody steal her carbon smuggler? Guess she doesn’t fall for the beer quite like the rest do.
  • 2 0
Ha! I do love a good beer but I never take my eyes off that lovely Smuggler. Smile

Skye nailed the soundtrack. Glad you like it!!

Great video, great story! What was the second song in the sound track?
  • 1 0
I think the first and the second are the same. However the song starts at 1:07 is A MOMENT APART from odesza, they do fancy music!
  • 1 0
@timchizhou: Thanks! I guess it was the first one that I was wondering about-has real or synth bagpipe effect. Very cool tune whatever it is.

@RyderDog:Get your idea! it's DESTROYER from TR/ST. Hope you enjoy it!

 That tree though...

 Awesome!

Great feel to this video. Trails looked mint too. Her bar width though... wider than mine and I am 6ft1!
  • 6 1
 Maybe you have short arms
  • 3 5
@pargolf8: Nah. I just don't ride silly wide bars. I don't coach either. If I did, I would tell her to cut her bars. Lol
Her bar width is forcing her into the wrong position on the bike.
I do race though.

@betsie: you’ve done your time to make educated comments?? You ever heard the phrase dont talk about it, be about it? Look into hoss
  • 2 1
@pargolf8: Yes I hove done my time to make educated comments!

Yes I race, not that much these days, just first round last year (2nd with scarlet fever which was not pleasant) and Scottish champs (vets winner and probably only Steve Peat has gone faster down Fort Bill for an over 40 in a race, his 4:49 beats my 5:05) .

www.rootsandrain.com/rider944/john-young-vet/results

some results can be ignored, last years Fort Bill I didnt race, Crankworks 2012 I had a broken hand still (silly idea racing), 2009 Inners I was in cast from a recent break and needed the points for the series so they let me pretty much walk down the hill, last word masters.. I had a great crash on my 224 which I did not get on with at all.

 @betsie: douche
  • 1 1
@betsie: if you knew how little i cared about the bullshit you just spilled. You wouldn’t have wasted your time tooting your own horn
  • 2 1
@pargolf8: not tooting. I didn't say a thing until you called me out. Just answering a keyboard warrior. No go try bully someone else. Enjoy your ride.
  • 2 3
“Some results cant be ignored” the epitome of tooting.
  • 4 0
Thanks for your concern but I quite like how my bars feel. To each their own, eh? Cheers!
  • 3 0
 @Angi: yes!
  • 4 6
Chicks and wee-folk are always running bars that are way toooo wide.
  • 3 2
Because it is fashionable to have very wide bars.
  • 7 1
Pick a bar width and be a d#ck about it!
  • 1 0
what width do dentists use? super narrow or 2018 stock width super wide?
