by Andrew Cho
9 time Trials' World Champion, Kenny Belaey has joined the GT fold for 2012 and is looking to repeat his success.

GT Welcomes Kenny Belaey

2012 marks a special year for GT, as some of the most well decorated athletes from DH, Slopestyle to Trials join the roster. Kenny Belaey is no exception and he is looking to achieve some of his careers' greatest milestones onboard a GT.

To celebrate his addition to the roster, Kenny was invited to spend a week in Sunny-San Francisco (as opposed to cold-Belgium), to show his well roundedness as an athlete and a showman. During this time, he spent the week training for the up coming World Cup Season, performing an NBA half-time show and taking in what the local riding scene and the unique landscape had to offer.

Great riding, but what bikes is he on? They aren't gt...
  • 10 6
doesnt compare to riding on a wire like... (danny mac)
  • 5 3
Danny Mac has more style and skill
  • 4 0
The amazing stuff Danny Mac does he does alot until he gets it right, Kenny Balaey is a bit more consistent and competion orientated.
  • 3 0
yeh mac is sick but you can see the level of precision with kenny, its amazing, he is 9 times champ for a reason. awesome video, thanks
  • 1 1
Tom your completely right... Danny isnt consitant with his riding thats why he doesnt compete
  • 2 0
i was just waiting for ppl to start comparing him to danny....u just cant, he is a competitor..danny is a "styler"...its like comparing Travis Pastrana to Ricky C....no point..
  • 3 0
Pastrana used to be a racer too though - bloody quick too! Just joshing with ya! yeah same sport, two different approaches. completely agree.
  • 1 1
yeah, but the "racer pastrana" is not the pastrana that ppl now a days know ;-)

I just love watching the faces of the general public when they see trials riders do something meeental
  • 23 0
Just about to say that! Haha. They assume their some childish person on a bike until they see them nose mannual backwards down a hill!
  • 14 0
Haha and then they stand in a state of complete shock, its brilliant
  • 2 0

  • 5 1

i think danny finally met his match.....
  • 6 2
 not even^^

HE DIDN'T RIDE THE BOW AND ARROW! I've walked by that sculpture so many times and thought about how sweet a shot it would make, and then he comes to San Francisco with a trials bike, a camera, and world cup winning skills and doesn't even ride it. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about: jared.smugmug.com/Travel/American-Visions/1161601/32032712_oKRUX-M-1.jpg
  • 1 0
wouldnt want to start wheel spinning up that :S
  • 3 0
with all do respect, danny might look better on video. But if he would enter a world cup trial he would end LAST, kenny has won it 9 times. need to say more. Its the same difference between a freerider and a downhill worldcup racer...
  • 7 3
Definitely a very talented trials rider, but I think Danny MacAskill has a much more enjoyable style to watch. Kenny would be more interesting to watch at world champs in his element competing.
  • 1 1
agreed. if he is world champ, what is danny?
  • 5 1
 hes god
  • 5 0
Everyone, please, do you HAVE to compare with Danny? He is an individual trials rider, not "This much worse/better than Danny Mac"
  • 3 0
Wow! I really liked this video. Amazing riding skills and very impressed with Andrew's work too. Hope there is more to come. Great job guys. Don't worry about all the haters. Haters will hate. Well done gentlemen.
  • 7 1
I didn't see any GT bikes....? Just GT stickers.
  • 1 0
I agree... I wonder what's his bike though!? (24 inches)
  • 1 0
Probably Inspired for the street bike, and Monty for the pure bike.
  • 1 0
probably have to build him one still.
  • 3 0
The 24" is an Onza and the 26" is an Ozonys.
  • 1 0
 Thanks!
  • 6 3
I can see what GT are trying to do hear.
Athertons = Steve peat

Kenny = hans ray
I think they are trying to bring it back to the glory days.
  • 6 1
Now all they need is Nico, Anne-Caro, Mercedes, Mike King, Jerome Chiotti, Juli Furtado, Mark Gullickson, Alison Dunlap, Laurence Leboucher, and Leigh Donovan. And a 53 foot semi truck.
  • 5 5
It looks like GT followed Danny's formula............awesome riding, great scenery, fantasic filming, and a horrible soundtrack.
  • 2 1
he's a great rider and everything, but what's the point of having a gt sticker on the bike that doesn't have a single gt part on it? What GT is trying to promote by sponsoring this guy?
  • 6 1
My guess is that GT is trying to promote Cycling to the non cycling crowd. Athertons are awesome but no one outside of the DH scene or bike industry will see them. Kenny is promoting the awesomeness of bicycles to those who are not checking in to pinkbike or vital every day- Its a very good thing for all of us, make our industry stronger.
You dont think Norco uses Ryan to sell thousands of trials frames, Ryan & Kenny is a bicycle evangelists/ athletes, spreading the good word of bikes across the land

Professional. A professional is an expert who is master in a specific field. Professional.
  • 6 6
Professional - yes. Expert - yes. Master? There can only be one master and it's Danny MacAskill!
  • 3 0
this is what i call... focus!
  • 2 0
I actually love the soundtrack song! And I think Florence is a much better singer than Danny MacAskill.
  • 2 0
Yeah GT! Stepping it up! To bad Gee is out for awhile...
  • 1 0
Sick style and creativity by this guy! Insane balance and ups!! Just take it for what it is.
  • 4 2

I think I smell a RedBull rider with the both of them. Could provide nice contrast between the 2 styles.

Kenny Belaey. Trails Athlete. Tuesday Showman.
  • 3 0
 It's 'Trials'
  • 6 7
looks like danny has a run for his money now...
  • 11 1
I might be wrong, but in my humble opinion I see the two riders as very different. With clearly very different objectives. Their style is quite different, and they both participate in different areas of trials discipline. If you read above it says he has won 9 time Trials' World Championships, so.... technically if danny wants to start getting into time trials, then he would be giving Kenny Belaey a run for his money no the other way around.
  • 3 2
yes you are correct in that but i was referring to street trails, since he was doing most of that in this video.
  • 3 0
Like LeftCoastVisuals says, they have very diferent styles, when I first began to watch mtb videos my very first hero was Ryan Leench (over Chase and Lenosky and the monocycle guy lol )and the trial scenes were my favorites till I notice that they had very common places; but Danny with just one video make my trial heart beat again. and I prefer the innovative trials from mcaskill he is the dude that refresh the trial scene which means he made trial scenes profitable again(thing that any champion could do in 9 years ) Danny rises the bar very high in terms of full entertainment, besides mcaskill's videos are very easy to see
  • 4 1
There both good but Mac definitely has the edge on him due to the size of his balls.
  • 2 4
have to say thats one of the first good comments ive heard that uses balls in it
  • 6 1
No shit, Danny's a great rider, but you are comparing apples and oranges here. You guys should realize that trials includes many different styles of riding.
  • 3 0
@LeftCoastVisuals, is it called TIME trials?, or just trials? i thought TTI was like a road thing
  • 2 0
@larryssman7 yeah yeah sorry I was just wording it like they said in the article, it should probably be worded "and he was a winner of the trials world championships nine times"
  • 2 3
hmm t think here is danny match whats gonna happen whos gonna be better?
  • 3 5
Sweet! Will they be selling his bike at Sport Chek?
  • 1 4
obviously this guy kills it, but how is Danny Macaskill or Chris Akrigg not #1?
