Video: Maris Ornins - 4 bikes

Māris came to me with an idea for a video a while ago, he wanted a new web edit for Suntour forks and Famous clothing as he recently joined their team. But we wanted to show that Maris is an all-round rider, so we decided to film with 4 different bikes - DH, freeride, park and street. We started with park on his now-old 24" bike before his knee surgery. Māris didn't want this part to be big due to the fact that all winter the only place to film is the Monsterparks. Next we went to Baldone - Riekstu kalns where we shot the downhill part of the video. This part was filmed after his surgery/post-recovery. Now Māris' knee is back to its 100% as it was in the past. For the dirt section we went to Māris' dirt playground. This time we waited on Māris' new 26" bike to arrive, as he's now riding big-boy wheels. Needless to say, after just a couple of days on the 26" and Māris was feeling comfortable enough on the bike to start doing some big stuff. Finally for the freeride segment Māris had in mind a drop, and it took us a while to find the perfect location for filming. Thankfully we found an excavation site where Māris stomped a gnarly 360, ain't no Redbull rampage, but still a good Latvian edition, atleast never seen before. Hope you like the video!

okay lets be real here...those styles were not much different. The first one wasn't even downhill, it was freeride. The second and the third were the same damn thing and the last one was just slopestyle. Those were barely varied at all in the big scheme of biking. Now this isn't taking away from the video or his riding, those were both awesome and I really did enjoy the video. But marketing it as variety on 4 different bikes was basically just trash. A real well rounded bike rider would be someone who could excel in say, Downhill, dirt jumping, trail riding, and road riding. But basically doing something that all comes under the heading of freeride IS NOT WELL ROUNDED. end rant. bring on the wave of negative props.

So he wasnt riding down a hill at all?

He might have been riding down a hill, but thats not what makes "downhill" downhill. Downhill you are going for the speed and technique vs freeride were you go have fun get big air and just go more for the fun of it.

I was thinking that I'd be seeing Bmx, Dj, Slope/freeride and downhill. Dude shreds for sure though and no disrespect.

A huge aspect of freeride is the speed and technique. Just because you think that Dh is all scrubs and roots doesnt mean someone else wouldnt view it differently.

his dh segment was shit and street segment was ok, his 3 at the end wasn't very epic. his DJ sess was pretty rad though.

He did ride 4 different bikes though, and that was the video's name, it isn't called 4 disciplines that must be equally good, I thought the video was sweet!

one thing I think is strange on PB. all recent news should come at the top of the news and many times the news comes in the midle of the news and I have to be sarching for new "news" in the midle of the others. is not that I dont like, I just think is strange. the news are mixxed

27 props up doesn't mean PB can put the news at the top of the website all the time? or the props up should be ignored? I would love to know the reason why PB do that! confuse us?

He just means he wants news on the news feed, not a random guy in a dirt jump video. Its a a slow news day and it promotes eastern euro riders.

To be honest though, probably should have titled it: "Dirtjump and Freeride on 4 almost identical bikes"

 and famous
  • 3 1
If you two could read, you would notice, that he have those sponsors. Jealous poor boys..

Actually, its just Famous, if YOU could read... it clearly says he rides for Famous and Suntour. If he rode for RedBull I think he might have more than a couple empty cans in his car to show for it!
