First Ride: 2021 Kona Honzo ESD Hardtail
Ok, low hanging fruit here: I have now owned, ridden, and sold a Process 153 -fs, a Wozo -fb, and now a big honzo dl -hardtail, all due to the terrific customer service by my LBS. I am pumped to support the boys down the block, and subsequently the Kona brand, but am growing increasingly suspect of the build spec from the Kona factory for the price of each bike. On the latest iteration of the Big Honzo DL-top build spec, (2020, I know there is now a new one out), I'm looking at NX/SX drivetrain (plastic parts), Shimano not-even-SLX brakes and WTB rims with in-house cockpit. At nearly $3K CDN, something doesn't add up or rather, everything adds up too much. I have really liked the ride quality of the Kona as it has progressed, but am I missing something else? Is there a brand that rides like the Kona hardtail I"m used to that offers more for the money? FWIW, I'd rather put an extra $500 in the pockets of the LBS boys and have a great-spec'd bike than pay way too much for SX eagle parts from the factory.

Must Watch: Amaury Pierron Goes Ridiculously Fast Aboard Commencal's New Supreme DH 29/27
If he catches one edge or root in the tree section at that speed, are we not talking pretty serious injury, or worse? It's easy to forget as Amaury makes it look almost low-risk - his riding is unreal.

Pinkbike Poll: Choose Your Field Trip Trail Bike
Making the assumption both bikes are in the same condition after 2 years of light to moderate trail riding, does the Commencal or Santa Cruz sell for more? Which one holds its value better?

Field Trip: Calibre's $1,400 Bossnut - The Boss of Low Cost
@mikelevy: "You might expect some sketchy geometry at this price, but that’s not the case." What is the relationship (direct or otherwise) between retail price and good (or bad) geometry numbers? Does good geometry cost a bunch of extra money in and of itself, or is it a reflection of top-end engineering (and therefore added cost) or is it something else? Essentially, why can't $1400 bikes have the same great functional geometry as a $8400 bike? Cheers.

Pinkbike Poll: What Type of Mountain Bike Racing Are You Most Excited For in 2020?
I look forward to the course previews. If done well, they are entertaining, informational, and really good hype for the weekend. It's always great to see Gee do the previews (DH), but it'd be interested to get some other perspectives also. There are so many good riders that see intricacies in the course at such a lightning-fast pace- can't wait.

Kona Humuhumu

$800 CAD
In like-new condition, stored inside, only changes from original are Maxxis Grifter tires, Kona lock-on grips and the wheel fenders. Maybe been on 50 rides with my kids on the street or paved pathways. It's the second bike I don't use much and can live without. Please PM me for more pictures. Thanks for looking.
