The UCI Releases the 2023 Team List
@pbfan08: Still a sport even if it”s not professional dumbass. Literally what 99.99% of people who compete in sports are amateur. Literally dumbest comment of the year.

Sam Blenkinsop Signs With Crestline Bike Co.
@Euripides-Iripadem: Not sure what you mean, but I'm not saying that Crestline bikes are bad, I've never ridden one so I wouldn't know - From there website I think they actually look good (Again I wouldn't know). I'm just saying that there about 10 times smaller than a small brand like Evolve bikes that no one has ever heard of, so there is no way they can afford to pay someone to travel the world doing races, let alone pay them a salary to do it.

@inside-plus: True, but I think were people get annoyed is the lack of transparency. Like c'mon it's obvious that Crestline bikes, a brand I've never heard of until now, who have 5k Instagram followers and are essentially just a hobby business aren't footing the bill for a rider to travel around the world, whilst paying him a generous salary.

Sam Blenkinsop Signs With Crestline Bike Co.
@DGWW: It's pretty obvious, isn't it? His calendar includes a full DH season, EWS rounds, crankworx events and hardline, to even get to all these events with your bike is crazy expensive lets alone accom, entry and other costs. Crestline bikes is a tiny tiny essentially hobby company, it really doesn't need be said that they are obviously giving nothing more than a free frame, maybe 2! So, the money has to be coming from Blenki himself. Thats because it is, bikes are an expensive and let's be honest a damn small one. These brands that riders are being sponsored by are maybe giving free (at most), I reckon mostly discounted gear. So, the money to travel the world for guys who aren't sat the top has to be coming from somewhere.

Seeing as the Norco team didn't really cover many expenses it's probably pretty safe to assume that Blenki himself is footing the bill for the season. Crestline is an absolutely tiny tiny brand and would no way be able to cover any expenses except for the free bike frame they are giving. My best guess would be some sort of trust fund Blenki gets.

Blenki must have one hell of a trust fund to be able to pay for that season, because there's no way this is a paid gig.

Team Registration Fees to Increase for 2023 World Cup Racing
An entry level bike is like 4-5k, race fees cost about ads much for a race weekend as it does for a season of other sports. Cycling is far far far far far far from free

Pinkbike Academy Season 3, Episode 10: A Winner Is Crowned
What was the point of watching the whole season on racing challenges if the winner was picked on Instagram followers. Also, how can some amateur nobody rider have 50k followers, he's obviously just bought a large portion of them, talk about a brand being dimwitted.
