@brianpark: Thanks - please see my moaning as enthusiasm for PB's content rather than a complaint!

Video: We Discuss The Only True Standard In Mountain Biking | Pinkbike Magazine Show Ep. 8
@henryquinney: can you please upload an audio only version of these, maybe just a link to the audio file on the page somewhere? Maybe you do and I've missed it?
This is EXACTLY the sort of thing I loved about the PB podcast, which has been dwindling in regularity and has become more and more about interviews with industry people I don't care about. I really miss the PB podcast of old, this is the sort of podcast content that I want!
I know I could watch it but I haven't got time to actually watch videos. The podcast got me through long drives, long runs, gym sessions, I listened when I cook etc. I would bloomin' love it if there could be an audio version of this. I realise I could put it on and ignore the video but that doesn't really work in those situations.
Can it be done?? Please oh please? I'm asking with my nicest manners!

The Bolehills BMX Track is Back in Action After 6 Months of Digging
These jumps are literally behind my house, I've donated loads to the effort over the years, helped out on dig days in years past, bought a DJ bike to practice, and it's an awesome thing to have.
But, every year the jumps have got bigger, more tech and frankly a bit scary for a grown up teenager who wants to get better at jumps - I don't see the progression there at all, all I see is 2 easy doubles and then everything else is huuuuuuge! It's truly awesome seeing people that can properly send it all, but maybe the designers have lost sight of what less talented mortals are actually capable of? It gets more and more unrideable every year with these "improvements". I'd really love to see more genuinely beginner/progression friendly lines, rather than just 2 small doubles leading straight into monster kickers and hips with no actually achievable B lines! A lot of locals have voiced this opinion, shame it's been ignored.
Anyway, this place is way beyond what I'll ever achieve now so I've sold the DJ bike and donated the money from the sale to the cause. I don't mean to winge, just another attempt to get those in control to make space for some more accessible lines one day. Long may it last, I just won't be riding it. Props to the those that still can!

The Final Randoms - Sea Otter 2023
I find that after a while you don't notice the weight, you get used to it. Also I find the extra weight to be beneficial on descents, the increase in sprung weight makes the suspension work way better, it tracks the ground so much better. I'm faster downhill even with the motor turned off than I am on a normal bike. The way most people actually ride, rather than how they think they ride, they'd be better off on a full power emtb rather than a light one. Plus the feeling that you can get up anything, or do a massive loop that you normally wouldn't get close to finishing, or smash out loads of laps super fast on turbo, all without worrying about the battery is the whole point right? You can never have too much battery life! If you're worried about riding with people on normal bikes just dial the power down to match their fitness, just because you can smash out all the power doesn't mean you have to. I can't see any downside to full power. I'd say worry more about warranty support and reliability - my kenevo had 5 new motors in the first 2 years, which is why I don't have an ebike anymore

[Updated with Overall Standings] Final Results from the Derby Enduro World Cup 2023
Hey Kate Weatherly - I doubt you read the comments here (and I really hope you don't!) but if you do, I think you're great. I'm a fan, and I hope you keep racing for a long time yet. I'll be rooting for you, alongside my other favourite female athletes!

@DoubleCrownAddict: it sounds like you need to adjust your riding style to avoid tick gardens - they sound gross, and I think you'd enjoy your rides more if you weren't catching lime disease all the time

@Lololmalol: how do you know, have you asked them? What makes you think you know what other people are thinking?
A few years back, when Kate was racing WCDH, Emilie Sigenthaler was pretty outspoken in the PB comments about how all the top DH women fully supported Kate racing with them - Emilie was immediately shot down and down voted by PB commenters who could not accept it, even though it was the opinion of a literal competing DH pro.
I'm not saying this is you, but there are a lot of people who use the position of defending cis female athletes as an excuse to bash trans people, often they're unaware that they even have transphobic feelings but they definitely do. Top athletes do not need random commenters to assume they know what they want and to speak up for them, so I wish people just didn't do it.
I get that the conversation amongst competing athletes might look different in other sports, especially athletics, but the culture of MTB has always been about being a bit outside the normal, accepting of difference and alternative views on life. I think the amount of pro mtbers who fully support this is much, much higher then most people assume. I also think that even the ones that don't would prefer people to keep the conversation and focus on the positive things and celebrating the achievements of all the women racing rather than turning the focus into a negative and divisive space for everyone, how can that be the best thing for the sport?
And yes, you could say how do I know what other people are feeling just like I said at the start to you, but I think it's pretty clear if you read into what athletes in our sport have said about the issue. Most of our pros are in it for love of the sport and competition, not winning or prize money, and this doesn't detract from that in any way.

@BamaBiscuits: I mean, the word "bike" means any vehicle with 2 wheels, so it literally is though, isn't it? You can count right? Let me help you - 1, 2, done. So it's a bike. Glad we could clear that up.
I guess you maybe mean that riding ebikes isn't proper mountain biking? Because of the cheating due to the mechanical assistance, right? Kinda like using a chair lift? That's definitely a good criteria. Really logical, not based on unfounded prejudice at all.
On another note, l can't wait for this year's trip to the Whistler mountain not-a-bike park to mountain not-bike with my mates. Also pretty excited for the world not-a-bike champs at fort bill, can't wait to see Bruno ride a not-a-bike in person.
