EWS Madeira Film Festival, Viewer's Choice Winner Announced

May 9, 2017 at 3:31

Voting is now closed, the Viewer's choice Award goes to 'Lonely Island' by Etienne Van Rensburg featuring Matt Hunter. Congratulations!

The Enduro World Series Madeira Film Festival saw four production teams assigned the mission of filming one of the four sides of the Island each. Their films showcased the diversity of terrain, landscapes, and forests Madeira is famous for.

The whole Enduro World Series industry had the opportunity to watch the premier of these short edits live in Machico and voted for their favorite. Now the world wide mountain bike community has the opportunity to choose their favorite as well! Even though Madeira is a small island, we still find that there's so much more to discover and so much more to ride.

Cast your vote! The winning team will be announced on Sunday night on Pinkbike, there's 1000€ up for grabs!

Lonely Island FTW. If any of these make you want to ride Madeira this one is it.

It is stunningly beautiful, supremely done and thoroughly enjoyable.

@Archimonde: yeah it has really awesome pictures, but doesn´t let them room to sink in. cut every 2 sec is way to fast IMO.
  • 5 1
@dodobob: Hmm, cuts are definitely fast on occasions, but they ooze beautiful cinematography and I'm sure that they wanted to pack as much of those as possible.

The video is a love song to riding and Madeira. Freeride Madeira guys couldn't have asked for a better promo video.

Lonely Island definitely makes you want to ride Madeira.
The edits capture its incredible beauty, but they are so fast.
And @ 2:08ish, why's he paddling away from his bike? I'm for creative license, but that has me stumped.

@bjon-leipprandt: Simple. The guy wanted to take a break from riding, and rowed around to see the beauty of the island unaccessible by bike.

@bjon-leipprandt: That part started to remind me of Danny McCaskill in "The Ridge".

WTF man vink and anderson for the win destroying the mountains!!!!!!! slaying mannn!!!!!!!!
  • 4 1
I agree. That was close to the top.
  • 12 2
I think it was a lot of people's second choice... it was mine anyway. But Lonely Island had me smelling the dirt....
  • 12 2
For me, hands down was "lonely Island".... loved the shots, framing and music...

LOL, You know you're going too Enduro when the plane matches with you bike colour scheme. 'Lonely Island' by Etienne Van Rensburg
  • 4 2
sooo hard to chooosee!!! They all have things other videos don't.. But if anyone thinks 140mm bike is not enough for some insane riding will see through that BS after the Vink and Anderson video. I think Oly is on a 140mm bike aswell.. Unreal...
  • 2 2
I like the Real Riders and would vote them 2nd. Lonely Island rounds out the biking areas with some local attractions and activities but real riders captures the social side too. Very difficult to select so my 2nd choice would be them for certain.

Wilkins all week. Styles and smiles for miles!
  • 4 0
 Wilkins has the banta
  • 3 1
I love Olly Wilkins but the commentary ruins his video. Voted for Lonely Island in the end.
  • 6 8
Not sure why the first one chosen so much. Cool for sure but that last one had some great shots. The first seemed a bit goofy. I don't care for antics. Just wanna see the beautiful scenery, skilled riding, and exceptional filming skill. I think that last one ticked all the boxes.
  • 14 2
Because Olly Wilkins has unreal style, and the filming was very good.
  • 6 1
For me it was the most entertaining video to watch. All the videos are amazing. Real riders is the most down to earth and most normal people as far as the average rider goes. Matt hunter (lonely island) close second for riding and artistic licence. Nico is an animal and the riding is intense but 4 corners is the most "watchable" in my opinion

Where is the "I Don't Know, These And All Mountain Bike Videos Are Pretty Much All the Same" option?

Of the four, I suppose "Real Riders" would influence me to visit Madeira the most.

I think I know where my next big trip is heading!

Have a pole on who likes sped up shots. Its nice to see real riders at real speeds. Off the soap box now.
