New Deity Parts - Sea Otter Day 1

Deity is at Sea Otter showing off a ton of new parts, including their Compound pedals. Unlike a lot of other non-metal pedals, the Compounds are not made of brittle polycarbonate that can be prone to shatter upon impact, but rather a nylon fiber blend that Deity claims is far more resistant to cracking. The material is also said to be able to slide over rocks and roots that might hang up a metal bodied pedal.

Total weight is an impressive 354 grams, and equally impressive is their suggested retail price of just $45 USD. Replacement bodies sell for $9 USD.

We only brought a few of our new handlebars to show our riders as we are focusing on our new frames at this years Sea Otter Classic. The new 2012 Handlebar line will be available in August and blows anything out on the market away. It is THE best component work we have done and the response has been astounding (and that is with them not even being "officially" displayed).

The pic only shows a brief glimpse at the ano detail and we are not yet releasing full images, but if it says anything...every major bar manufacturer at Sea Otter has come by our spot to look at them. Trust us, it is for a reason. Our new 2012 line is insane, will bring us to the top of the game, and we did not even bring any of it to show with the exception of a few of the bars which have been making quite an impression on anyone who holds one.

Preview images will come up on our Facebook page and Blog over the following month or two....

FYI...the pic shown is not our 2012 Dirty30 handlebars. They are the new Topsoils...

Are there going to be any other colours?? (Bars wise..)

All of our 2012 Handlebar line will come in black, purple, green, red, and white... The upcoming Blacklabels, Dirty30s, and Topsoils will also feature our trademark two tone ano finish that is amazing to look at in person.

Some useful info for everyone...this pedal mold is not exclusive to anyone and is made by HT. We have stated that from the beginning and is why we sell it at $45 (which is cheaper than anyone else we have found) and replacement pedal bodies are $9. Not rocket science...just a good product offered at a good price.

We will have them in multiple colors also...

When it comes to investing into our own tooling...this is where our handlebars destroy anyone else and we can surely guarantee that the new bar line will be turning some heads when we launch it.

4725 JPY is over $56 usd. We sell our Compound pedals for $45. Big difference...

going to need a review of the pedals before i purchase. had some PC for bmx and there fine for park and street, but when it comes to dirt your foot does not connect like it would with metal.(i guess because of the dust) and the more traction for DH the better.
  • 3 1
 thats why they got pins
  • 1 0
theyre not polycarbonate theyre nylon which is a thermoplastic theyre generally less brittle than thermosets so could mean more flexibilty, but that probably wont be true due to teh composition

Ha wow those pedals are just like premium slim pc pedals except with metal pins. Thats funny though cause I was wondering why they didnt make them with metal pins cause mine snapped of on one side pretty quick. I wish these came out before I bought my pedals.

For comparison: images.danscomp.com/images/products/mid_465031.gif

i'm loving the plastic pedal idea, especially if that'll make them cheaper.

I totally agree, I want those pedals! They look sick, and on top of that they're a sweet price! and the bars, mmmmmm.

"The material is also said to be able to slide over rocks and roots that might hang up a metal bodied pedal." Good luck trying to slide that over a root or rock with those big metal pins sticking out of it
  • 2 0
I think they mean compared to metal and youd be surprised pins dont get caught up too much ( in my experience)

This design is not exclusive to anyone...Nukeproof and a few other people offer it. We just retail them at $45...

Tough the beat? Indeed.

Did you know that well over 90% of those pedals will shatter and kill you... That was not intended to be a factual statement... In honor of Colbert vs Kyl

Deity's stuff is really good product for the money, I use their bars, stems and cranks/BB and have bashed them for years with no troubles.
These new changes and color choices look pretty tasty.
Nice work!

Those pedals are a great concept/product!

ninjavillain is right, the metal pins in a nylon body are a friggin great idea!
  • 1 0
wow... isn't Deity brilliant to come up with the plan to buy these from the company that actually makes 'em!
  • 1 0
You bet your a$$! They're a company looking to make money, not some charity on a quest for honour and integrity. Why bother with R&D when you can just (for a fraction of the cost) modify the part (or not even) after buying it from the real inventor/manufacturer, and sell them for a different price under your own name? If the kids will buy them, they've succeeded haven't they? Marketing/Sales brilliance! Razz
