Photos of the top half of the 2011 Pietermaritzburg DH course.
This section of the course is being kept as natural as possible and incorporates a number of fast technical sections.
The 2nd straight of the track - the first straight starts as a road gap into a dropoff, into a left berm which is shown in the background of this image.
The first section of off camber turns just after the 2nd straight
Mini Me - a tight offcamber righthander into a 5foot dropoff onto the road below
Cloud 9's main rock dropoff - the test pilot is standing on the "Chicken Run" line
Cloud 9's "Chicken Run" line - the main line drops off the rocks from the left
Cloud 9's rock section from below. The off cambers are awesome and hard to ride
Rock drop off the top road into sharp right hander, over rock section below Cloud 9

Stay tuned for more building from the 2011 Pietermaritzburg DH course!
Looks nice! Is this a new WC track or is it just changes to the one that they ran in 2009?
Remember the WC at Le Brasse? Everyone thought it was too natural in some spots, but after a few days of Pros hammering down it hard that bit just got insane. Turned out to be the best race of the season (season before last as I recall)
Keep up the good work guys!
Though Yeah I was only in Schlad that year, friends were to booth and they all share my opinion. Seen the live recap and it might have looked awesome if you've never been to a WC track but overall - nothing special.
Anyway I will rather trust the opinion of my friends I usualy agree with than yours kid.

the track looks great
Guys ... i wont lie Mr Min has driven around twice to have a look at the course BUT has had very little input. I have been in contact with 6 of the top pros overseas to get advice on what to do in the pedal section. The course is being designed so that ANYONE can win. Just remember that in 2009 everyone thought that the course didnt suit flat pedals but Hill still got a 5th and was on the pace. In comparison to the courses in Europe (Which are generally ALL hosted in the Alps) SA doesnt have mountains like that but the overall elevation drop is on par with many of the WC Tracks (eg Windam). It will be an ALL Riders course - you will need to be good at tech rocks, steep stuff, jumping, and pedalling. Its not just a single type track which is just steep and gnarly - you need to be an OVERALL RACER to do well here.
