While the Enduro World Series is on pause and the world's top enduro racers stuck at home waiting for the series to get back underway, we've been glued to athletes' social feeds, rewatching event highlight videos, and rereading old tech articles... and many of you are likely doing the same. To put all that Enduro World Series knowledge to use, we're running Fantasy Enduro Trivia while we wait for racing to kick off again.

Over 10,000 of you participated in the first round of trivia. We, unfortunately, had to scratch one of the questions due to an error, but we had an impressive 140 people get all 14 remaining questions right. In the draw, it was @hambone2585 that came away with first place and a Shimano XT drivetrain while @stratum came in second, taking the Shimano XT Brakeset, @Kerki taking third place in the draw for a Shimano PRO Cockpit and @rosithedog coming away with the final Round 1 prize of a Lazer helmet. Congratulations @hambone2585, @stratum, @Kerki and @rosithedog. See how YOU did in the standings by clicking here.

 To the Pinkbike staff...thanks for running these comps. I know you're getting a bit of grief, but I know a lot of us appreciate it.

Taped to her top tube

 @exaflop about question 14, apparently somebody convinced the Pinkbike staff that there was both chocolate and coffee on the podium, so they dropped that question. I've looked at multiple photos of the Bariloche podium and the bags of Rapa Nui Chocolate (and the company logo on the sponsor board) are clearly visible. There is no coffee in sight, not even a sponsor logo for a coffee company. I was the "winner" of the helmet in the original results, but that prize drawing wasn't fair since those results were incorrect so I don't consider it a loss, but I am disappointed to lose 50 points because an answer I got correct was eliminated for no good reason.

 Q5. Wrong. She was in pro category when she got 6th, not the elite category
  • 4 0
 @Iamwarthog: Maybe it was coffee flavoured chocolate Razz

Jokes aside, I had coffee selected as my answer for the longest time until I picked up on rapanui like 2 days before it closed. I assumed the produce was in the bag on 2nd place in this www.pinkbike.com/photo/13340849 photo, which I thought was most likely a bag of coffee.
  • 2 0
 @ondreja: HAHA! Yeah, maybe that's what it was, ;-)
  • 3 0
 @skijosh: The EWS used to run each race by the regulations of the host country so sometimes the top racers raced "Pro", sometimes "Elite", or sometimes "Open", but they have always been the same class with the same pro racers. The name has since been standardized to being called pro, but there is no difference between the elite category, pro category, or open category in regards to the EWS record books.
  • 2 0
 @Iamwarthog @ondreja The article published last Monday/Tuesday had this www.pinkbike.com/photo/18891940 as 'proof' for coffee being the right answer. But as you can see here www.pinkbike.com/photo/15752606 the 'proof' is Manizales, not Bariloche.

The original article has since been edited. www.pinkbike.com/news/enduro-fantasy-trivia-round-1-winner-announced--answers-to-all-15-questions.html
  • 1 1
 @Iamwarthog:

If the question hadn’t said “elite” I’d buy your argument. But since “elite” was removed several years ago, it was reasonable for those of us that knew that “elite” wasn’t the name for the pro class anymore to believe that the question was specifically asking about “elite” races

 What’s the best EWS result by a Chillean rider?

3rd
6th
13th
19th

Florencia Espinera, Lo Barnachea 2018

You said it was 6th. @pinkbikestaff

But in the 2018 EWS Barnachea race Florencia raced in the Pro Women's category, not the Elite category (which disappeared in 2015). The correct answer should be 19th place, as the question specifically asked about the "Elite" Cateogry...
  • 6 1
 First of all I don't see the word 'elite' in the question and second of all, if 'pro' is successor of 'elite', isn't that actually a same thing? Best EWS result be Chiliean rider is 6th and that's the correct answer.
  • 3 0
 @mentalhead: www.pinkbike.com/poll/2197-what--s-the-best-ews-result-by-a-chillean-rider-in-the-elit.html

Anyway, yeah, it means the main category here, but it's a bit up to interpretation when there was "elite" category for some time
  • 2 0
 @mentalhead: they changed the question here after the contest ended...
  • 1 0
 @mentalhead: because it had elite originally, and was changed afterwards... prior to 2015 there existed actual “elite” categories for men and women.
  • 1 0
 admin.enduroworldseries.com/uploads/documents/races/1584588221.pdf

If they only meant elite category the correct answer would be 15th, and not 19th. which was not in the answer key. That's why 6th was more logical to me.
  • 1 0
 @Johanvdb: it was 19th - 15 was a typo on my side
  • 4 0
 Well I didn’t have a knack for guessing... but I did have a knack for researching for 7 hours.
  • 2 1
 @pinkbikestaff I see the bike check like photo of Isabeau Courdurier's tube placement but in this image of her actually riding there is not a tube there.

m.pinkbike.com/news/enduro-world-series-round-2-tasmania-results-2017.html
  • 1 0
 @allrides if you look closely you can see the tube on Courduier's bike in the highlights footage. Here is a screenshot. I think the photo you have is from practice.
www.pinkbike.com/photo/19027832
  • 4 0
 That photo is from practice, not the race, the race was in heavy rain and she was wearing a full face helmet
  • 1 0
 She had one, I checked the highlights since she destroyed it in that race.
  • 1 0
 @seamanstephens21: thanks for clarification
  • 2 0
 Good luck to winner of Lazer Helmet (fourth place).. Still waiting for mine price since last September, EWS fantasy league round Northstar, California.
  • 3 0
 The Chilean EWS question changed wording, it originally asked for elites, which not many events had those.
  • 2 1
 That is what I am saying - Elite the answer would have been 19th. They changed the question after the event ended. This question should be re scored or deleted.
  • 4 1
 Didn't even occur to me it could be taken this way. I kind of assumed (seemingly rightfully) that if they're asking about "elite categories" (plural), they mean the main, or "highest" racing category, not specific category called elite.
  • 1 0
 @skijosh: yea I spent quite a bit of time making sure it was correct as questioned. Going through all the results manually looking at elite categories only...
  • 1 0
 @ondreja: there were men’s and women’s elites categories, so plural
  • 1 0
 @BrianANC: I did the same
  • 1 0
 @BrianANC: elite ended in 2015 and became “open” or “pro”
  • 2 2
 That first prize drivetrain, the cranks appear to be 1x but the rear mech and shifters appear to be for a 2x drivetrain. Shouldn't the winner get a 2x crankset too (or is it an actual 2x crankset with the granny ring removed)?
  • 2 0
 I too keep all my shifters on the right. Saves the left space for a pancake holder.
  • 4 0
 Oh, I didn't win? Shocked.
  • 1 0
 Second time in PB fantasy league I’ve got top points and missed out on a prize. Though it wasn’t 140 people last time, I think it was 4 people when Maes surprised everyone with a DH win. Ahh well next time maybe.
  • 3 0
 Ah damn. Put one hard un-googleable question into round 2.
  • 2 0
 I admit that I had a hard time finding The 1987 Mounta Cala des Collines Niçoises results by Googling. Got the rest right with an hour or so of research though. It was kinda fun!
  • 1 0
 If the whole series gets cancelled, what happens when 100+ people are tied for first after 8 rounds? Do we split up the bike and all get one small piece of carbon?
  • 1 0
 Random draw
  • 2 0
 Gratz to the winners, looking forward to next round.
  • 1 0
 No chance of getting a prize, still very fun!
  • 1 0
 So what was the answer to the produce placed on the podium at the Bariloche EWS?
  • 2 0
 That was fun. Do it again!
  • 1 1
 f*ck, I have all questions right and am so in need of a new drivetrain, but sadly no luck for meFrown
  • 1 0
 oh man, i cant believe my guesswork didnt get me a top ten
