I honestly don't give two craps about the price as long as the thing is bombproof; oh wait... I'm currently waiting to get a Thomson because they're the only ones I've seen that don't immediately develop play and they seem to hold up pretty well. I know they're fiddly but I'm okay with that.

Honestly, if it feels like an alfine at the cranks you can keep the thing, it was like the chain was elastic... However if it is tight and snappy then go for it

Continuously variable transmission, basically a gearbox with a range of gain ratios rather than stepped ones, imagine replacing the rear block with a cone and using a friction shifter. I haven't seen a design that isn't horribly inefficient, although I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Ask PB: Zero-Extension Stems and Air vs. Coil Suspension

I'd disagree with you there justin, most people seem to be looking for less linearity in their air forks, reducing volume to get them more progressive. As for using the damping, you can do that on an air fork, but I'd rather use as little damping as I can get away with...

Shimano XTR Trail Drivetrain - Review

I've never had any joy long term with alloy ones. They're nice whilst they're new though. As for your second comment, the top one is a ceramic bush (allows for lateral slop to improve shifting fidelity, which is why I don't like alloy ones, they're too rigid) and the lower has a sealed bearing :p

I have to agree with joe, nothing made me laugh more than when my former boss sold his sb66 and grabbed an orange five off display to tide him over until his sb6 arrived. He was so excited, his rosy eyed love of his five from yesteryear. From the first turn of the pedals you could tell the love was gone...
