First Look & Interview: Gamux CNC Gearbox Bike At Les Gets
@Kainerm: I'm considering a Pinion bike. After reading hundreds of comments on many forums, speaking to owners and after few demos there seems to be polar opinions between owners who mostly say drag is not very noticeable, if at all, and non-owners who mostly say it is significant. A few owners like yourself experience significant drag. This makes me wonder if there is a fault in yours that could or should be rectified by Pinion? My personal experience is limited to demo riding. Back to back with other enduro rigs, I couldn't tell the difference in drag in the lower gears. Maybe there was more drag in higher gears or maybe the chunky tires and long travel suspension was a greater variable than the transmission. I didn't have enough time to compare riding in higher gears to really be sure. Shifting was instant and super smooth compared to derailleur. I simply don't understand the wrench thing.

Rotwild Teases New 180mm Travel Lightweight eMTB
Sometimes, I feel like I would like a sub-20 kg (preferably 18 kg) Ebike. I tried a BMC trail fox but at 24 kg it was a lump despite getting me up hills steeper than I deserved to climb with my own lungs. It was hard to fling around at my crap skill level. Maybe a better rider could do more but I wasn't interested until the lighter detuned models came from Specialised and Orbea. Now I am getting interested. Maybe. When I'm older. But if I was to get one, I would have significant concerns about the obsolescence. There seems to be a flood of Ebike models hitting the market. New motors from Shimano and Bosch every year or two. Maybe a dozen smaller motor manufacturers, some pending with gearboxes combined. So now its getting like mobile phones. A new and shiny improved model is always around the corner. How long does one hang on to an Ebike until compelled to sell and get that lighter, bigger capacity battery combined with a lighter motor with more torque and greater efficiency, that feels more natural? Where does it stop? I think most folk can hang on to a bike for many years now that geometry is settling. Are Ebike owners going to be satisfied with having their bike become electronically obsolete within months of purchase?

Intense Announces '951 Series' Aimed at New Mountain Bikers
I read a lot of complaints about the price. If more of you were wiling to live intents, you could afford one.

I still have my 1998 Manta Race. It climbed like a ferret up a trouser leg. But going down?. Mt friends always were waiting at the bottom. Sometimes they would come back up to meet me with their first aid kits at the ready. It was so truly shite (as was I no doubt) downhill and when cornering on lumpy ground (so much wheelbase HA change, meant optional steering control). One of the nurses in the local hospital joked about keeping a bed free after my 3rd visit, having been ejected OTB. 13 years after my last offroad ride on it, I tried mtn biking again on a BMC Trailfox. Not the latest geometry by any means, but it was trans-formative. Suddenly I could do things I never could despite lack of skill. But for some reason I still love the Mantra and am going to resuscitate its craped out bits so I can ride it on nothing rougher than graded dirt road.
