I totally agree, I've got a 2020 Commencal Meta AM, I plan on keeping this bike until it explodes or I do. The main thing keeping this bike alive compared to previous that I've owned is that it's still up and with most standards and geometry with what I've done to it. And sure it's got pretty much the nicest parts you can buy at the moment but it cost me $4300AUD when it was only 1 year old, and with how the used bike market is going here in Australia, there's not a chance I'd get anything near what I paid for it even though I have and will continue to keeping dumping what feels like millions of dollars into it. I don't mind though, it gives me joy when I ride it, so I'll continue to do so until the bike industry leaves the plateau of innovation that it's been in for the last few years and come up with something that's worth me leaving my trusty steed for!

Genuine question for the ladies in the PinkBike comment section (rare I know) is it normal to ride with earrings in? I feel like I'd be worried about something happening in a crash or similar

Um no, check the 2020 commencal meta am 29 Signature, it works pretty well too.
