Wolf Tooth Announces Ripsaw Aluminum Flat Pedals
@justanotherusername: i think the thickness absolutely can make a difference in some cases though. The tmac and nukeproof horizon are 18mm thick at leading and trailing edges according to outdoorgearlab. The canfield crampon is claimed to be 6mm. That's 6mm on either side. They sell cranks in 5mm increments so switching from one pedal to another can in some cases get you similar changes in ground clearance to changing crank length.

Knolly Launches Updated Fugitive Trail Bike
Props to putting a 200mm dropper on all sizes medium and up. Surprisingly not that common especially among smaller brands. Very annoying to have to swap out a perfectly functional dropper post because mediums come with a 150mm and the frame will easily accomodate 200+ with your leg length.

Knolly Launches Updated Fugitive Trail Bike
@dmackyaheard: sizing is personal and reach is only one number, but im curious why you feel the medium is too small when the reach is within 3mm of your large LT. That being said, I've always felt the knolly geo looked weird on paper but ive never gotten the chance to demo one. I really want to try one but the sizing is so wonky on paper. Im 5'9 and my sweet spot for reach is 450-460 typically. A medium fug is 467 which is too big for me, but if I went to a small its 440mm reach and 1180 seems like a very short wheelbase for a mid travel trailbike for me. I heard someone say somewhere that knolly measures reach a little differently so the numbers you see on paper feel smaller in the real world but i dont remember the details of that claim.

Review: 2024 Orbea Occam LT - Modernly Convenient
Orbea: Hey, we have this bike called the Occam Me: Oh cool! That's a great name for a bike! 'The simplest solution is often the best solution' Is it a hardtail then? Maybe it's just some sort of simple full rigid mountain bike? Orbea: No, it's a full suspension with a linkage driven single pivot layout. It's available in several thousand different configurations which branch off of two main sub-models that use different links made of different materials to create different kinematics depending on what sub-genre of trail riding you might want. Also it has through headset cable routing, in-frame storage, and one of the shock bolts is a 70 dollar multi-tool Me: ... Do the people that name the bikes talk to anyone else involved in the process? Orbea: No.

Henry's Waffle House: All-Mountain Bikes Are Back, and They're More Pointless Than Ever
I mean what exactly is an all mountain bike these days? Is it different than a "long legged trail bike" like a ripmo or rail29? What about enduro bikes that have mild geo? Or is it exclusively the 150mm trail bike because 140 is still trail and 160 is enduro?

First Ride: Revel Rascal V2
V1 rascal actual seat tube angle was crazy slack. Even though the effective sta is only slightly steeper now, the actual is much steeper so hopefully that means less variance for rider saddle height. I have a v1 rascal in large and the only thing i dislike about the bike is my cog is well over the rear axle while climbing. Im 5'9 with a 33 inch inseam so my sta feels very slack at correct saddle height. So much so that i run my saddle a little low to compensate

Fezzari Bicycles Rebrands to 'Ari’ & Announces New Lightweight All-Mountain eMTB
Wow, they found a way to make themselves look worse. Lose what little brand recognition they were gaining, look horrible astoturfing, and the branding looks awful. Im sure the bikes are good. Def a good value. Maybe they will have a good liquidation sale in the next few years.

First Ride: 2024 Canyon Spectral CF - Evolution Not Revolution
So what exactly is the point of having really common geo numbers and just naming everything one size smaller than conventional? A med has a 475mm reach and small is 450. If you called these large and med respectively, they would be the exact same sizing convention as every other brand. It also does seem weird to put the average height for male bodied people on your size small... Granted if they just called them sizes 1-5 or whatever like specialized does, I wouldnt find it as weird. It just seems like a strange choice to do it like this

Pinkbike Editors' Christmas 2023 Wish Lists
@Trevorjones109:I actually do have a pair but they don't really fit over my (only) pair of glasses. To the above comment about contacts, I've thought about it but tbh I just don't see it as something that would work well for me. Im particular and i think contacts would really bug me.
