@cunning-linguist: You have obviously missed my point and apparently are ignorant to the meaning of the word. I pretty much said I do what you're saying I should do. Take care. I was trying to tell that guy not to care about it. I don't owe anyone any help. You really think you would have your life essentially taken from you and feel lucky? Please. People telling someone in dire straits they are "lucky" is the biggest crock of bs for people like me to hear. Having died doing what I love, then I would have been lucky. http://www.brainline.org/

I also had a stroke secondary to a dissected internal carotid artery in the same accident, fractured T5, Maxilla. I saw the other comment up there ignorantly mentioning stroke with all the up-votes, but it's all good. Can't blame an ignorant dumb-ass for being an ignorant dumb-ass.

@fercho25: I feel ya but try to look at it as ignorance. Ignorance is bliss, they're just trying to have fun. Embrace it. I have TBI (traumatic brain injury), sometimes I'll mess with people who know nothing more about me than TBI and I'll bark like a dog or talk in accents, just to fu*k with 'em when I meet them for the first time. I wish everyday that I was an ignorant dumb-ass, but it is very interesting coming back from the dead to this place humans know as their world. They say when I was in n out of my coma that I was claiming to be a married man. When they'd ask where I was, they say I was naming various places throughout Europe. I don't remember anything like that. I barely feel attached to the memories supposedly of this life.

Brain Injuries in Mountain Biking - Are We Doing Enough?
I'm a severe TBI survivor while helmeted on 7/2/15. Coma for 2 weeks. Now a wheelchair graduate. Once again a skier and cyclist. Neuroplasticity is an incredible thing about the body. Be safe, have fun. It's possible to do both.

BMX Superstar Dave Mirra Found Dead
After my coma with a helmet, and seeing what it put my family, loved ones through, wearing a helmet really shows you're not ignorant and shows you have people you love. While being realistic that anything can happen anytime regardless of skill-set. It has nothing to do with being "cool". If you're trying to look "cool", you're for sure anything but.

BMX Superstar Dave Mirra Found Dead
July 2, 2015 I sustained a severe TBI (while wearing my full-face), dissected carotid artery, compression fracture of T5, fractured upper left mandible, and a stroke from being blown by an intense gust of wind (so I'm told) mid-air while jumping at Steamboat Bike Park where I was living at the time. I was in a coma for 2 weeks, woke up paralyzed on my left side, began PT OT and ST, re-learned how to walk, working on running, I skied over New Years and have began mountain biking again 2 weeks ago. I just have to take it very mild and be hyper aware as I still don't have enough dexterity and strength in my left side to use the front brake effectively. That said, my point is brain injuries change you forever and do contribute to depression. RIP, Dave.
