 that was ugly. It could have been so much worse though - if you look carefully you can see how he lands on the side of his head/shoulder so that his torso compresses to take some of the impact. If he'd have been landing straight on his head with all his weight behind him he'd have a broken neck for sure. He also lands on wood which has a little bit of give in it. It was cruel how his bike landed on top of him though

 My cousin did the exact same thing but caught a branch on a tree .............. He now has two rods from the bottom of his spine to his crainium.
