Good video. I'll actually try and adjust my own stuff now rather then go the shop everytime.

exact same as shimano ... think they should rename the title haha . only difference is b tension limits

Nice video. Probably worth mentioning that before you bolt the cable down in place on the der., you should tighten (turn clockwise) in the barrel adjuster on the shifter. This is so you have some room for cable tension adjustment after bolting the cable in place, especially if your tension has been adjusted a bunch with the barrel before. I like to leave my barrel adjuster about two turns out before clamping down the cable. Intuitive to some, maybe not so much to others.

yeah all the shimano derailors work exactly the same way. and the high-low set screws can also be adjusted when the cable is still in place, you dont HAVE to take the cable off but i guess it helps.

was that a trek scratch 8??

I am very glad to find this site by accident. I thank you, Mike Levy, for your clear and articulate video. It is much easier than reading the instructions. By the way, recently I bought a Dahon MU SL bike. It has a SRAM X-9 rear derailleur. Once again this site is exactly what the doctor ordered.

What's the cog range on that cassette? I heard that sram x-9 and x-0 short cage derailleurs can take a 11-34 range.

I'm running an XO short cage on a 11-42 1x10 gear set. Never had any issues.

I have a 9-spd bike. Does a few extra links on the chain matter or should i break them off to the length i had before?
  • + 1
If replacing an old chain best to make the same length. Might still function with 2 extra links, however ur chain becomes a lot more slack
