Saykogel

This is a video I shot in September 2011 with Johannes Pistrol and Fabian Gleitsmann. It shows an incredible high mountain “bikebergsteigen” loop that we did at the end of the Ötztal valley, above Vent.

That was..... One of THE most incredible bits of riding I have EVER seen! Big Grin It's amazing just how far All-Mountain riding has progressed into serious freeride territory, and it what style and speed it's done so Salute

Great video, this is what I call mountain biking. Wish I had terrain like this near me. Some of those sections looked steep even on camera, which probably means they were even steeper in real life!

reminds me of warner pass in the chilcotins, which we did with fully loaded bobs. two search and rescue guys out for a backcountry holiday waited at the top to see what we were doing. they watched as we put together a couple of 'car bombs' for courage and then rode down the scree to warner lake....bobs bobbing along behind us...

Insane skills indeed! I was lucky enough to witness/join Johannes in one of the Liteville bike testing. It was just amazing to see how he ate up all the trails which most of us walked on foot instead. Smile

This trail is the epitome of technical riding. I don't think it could be any more raw than this. also, those rotors were probably on fire!

I bet most trials riders would attempt some of this! VOD all the way.

Why are they using their front brake to make baby turns?
  • + 2
 Maybe because:
a) they're not on DH bikes that have the ability to blast any section you're comfortable with.
b)they have the balance and control to use turns like that to their advantage.
c) they don't want to risk snagging a deraileur on those nasty rocks (and having aLONG ASS walk back down)
d) it's just their style. They seem to keep the flow pretty well.
e)because they have THAT to ride, and they can do it however they want.
not trying to shoot you down or anything, but these guys are riding a huge, gnarly, scary mountain that has teeth instead of rocks. I might even be inclined to walk a few of those sections, and I only walk uphill! These guys are good. they ride a mountain like some would ride a backyard trials course. I would give one of my nuts to have that amount of controll on my DH.

You made some interesting points. I'm more so worried for their faces, as you can see in the video. He fell doing it that one time.

wow, you made a good point. I ride with a full-face so i didn't really think about that.
