Stevie Smith Park Opening Day

Stevie Smith is a legend to the sport of mountain biking. When we lost Stevie we lost a part of the Canadian mountain bike community and a role model of the sport. The city of Nanaimo volunteered their time and resources to create a The Stevie Smith Bike Park to help carry forth his legacy. Photos: Paris Gore. Job well done to all involved in this. I can't watch anything involving Stevie without shedding tears. I will most certainly attempt to make it out to the park with my son, all the while letting him know who and why the park exists.

You know what, shit happens and people die every day. And although we each try to inspire, we are so often forgotten. But this guy will be remembered for his achievements and continue to inspire for generations. Long live chainsaw..

I think if steve could see everyone now he would be proud of what an impact he has had on mountain biking and us all and that means more than any world cup. Long live steve smith
