Donate To Your Trail Fairies

It's personal tax time in Canada and I'm going through donation receipts. A nice change from that delightful activity is thinking about how lucky we are to live and bike in such beautiful places in BC. Lucky enough to split my time between North Vancouver and Whistler, five organizations who do fantastic work in the areas I ride the most get membership dollars from my wife and I. Nothing says thank you to trail fairies and advocates like cold hard cash.

If you live in a place where you have a trail organization advocating for bike trails and for your interest, skip a beer or a lunch out, open your wallet and make a donation.

Locally for us there are tons of natural trail systems near where we live. These are worthwhile organizations to support. Chime in the comments to give a shout out to your local organization.

North Shore - NSMBA.

Squamish - SORCA.

Whistler - WORCA.

Pemberton - PVTA

Fraser Valley - FVMBA

Tri-cities area (Burke, Eagle, Belcarra - TORCA

Check out their websites for trail days!

And lets give thanks for the thousands of hours of volunteer work done by hundreds of dedicated trail builders.

Thanks for this article Lee. The NSMBA is a registered charity. Therefore an organization in a position to issue a tax deductible charity receipt. All these organizations deserve your support. The best thing you can do for your trails is contribute to their maintenance and sustainable development.

There is a very cool new club out of Medicine Hat Alberta. We are building ~40km of singletrack designed by the IMBA starting this summer in the Cypress Hills area, and also have some cool riding in the Redcliff area. Check out our brand new website at: www.670collective.ca
If you ever happen to come through the Medicine Hat area, please check out our trails, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised!

It's worth adding our Redcliff trail system is some of the most consistently technical trail in Western Canada, we're building a skills park in Redcliff, and adding over 3 kms of trail to Cypress Hills this summer.

Hah! I thought for a second that it was "salmon valley trail society" and was wondering how the small hamlet of salmon valley was able to create such a great website...

Nice work! Looks like you guys/gals are getting into it!

Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society - www.mmbts.com - a must for the Calgary DH community. Our trails need a lot of love after the damage from last season's floods, one of them (TDub) has large sections that need to be completely rebuilt. The only way to do this is with a lot of man hours and it's tough to get it done just with volunteers. If you've ever ridden Moose, please consider helping out to bring these great trails back!

Thanks Lee Lau, your timing was perfect s usual. I would like to say that cash is not the only thing that is needed but also some time. We all have to pitch in to do this and most everyone no matter how busy they pretend to be needs to do their part with getting their hands dirty. Money talks but effort rocks.

To anyone who rides in the Comox Valley area, and specifically Cumberland, please consider donating to the Cumberland Community Forest. They are currently raising funds to purchase more land from the logging companies to ensure our trails are protected long term. www.cumberlandforest.com

I would also note that there are other trail organizations and bike clubs in northern BC, but it won't make any difference - they'd get lost in the list already provided by Lee and commenters. Happy to see so many around - we are certainly lucky! If in northern BC, you know where to find us.

The Revelstoke Cycling Association will be sending out countless volunteers and even a paid trail crew to maintain and build more sweet singletrack - once the snow melts of course...
