Shimano BDS Fort William - Into The Woods
Fort William is famed for being a tough, technical track. geebeebee media captured some of the usually unseen parts of the track at last month's Shimano BDS race, focusing on how both riders and bikes tackled one of the challenging wooded sections.

It is good to see some mud videos, makes you think "I should go riding, it's not that muddy today" !

I know this is an old post, but riding in the mud can rip up the terrain and ruin a builders work. That's why you shouldn't just ride in the mud. Of course, there are exceptions.

This was a sanctioned race at Fort William in 2014 - part of the British Downhill Series - and the course specifically took this route, as designated by the course builders. Riders didn't purposely ride this rather than another section of track. In this case (and in similar conditions to last weekend's World Cup 2015), the weather turned really bad half way through the race runs, so the race had to go on and riders had to make it down as best they could...with many of the riders in this video benefiting for the experience, as you might have seen recently! After all, it's the UK!

this is an awesome vid... i been riding on and off for almost 20 years and it still amazes me how we ride bikes fast down terrain we cant even walk down

HAHA you can't walk that? Noob!! It's so easy. You first step forward with you left foot followed by your right foot. Then when you get closer to the root on the left just lean your body towards it using your face to land on it. At the same time both you feet should be sliding losing grip. Should your face also slip, just use your colar bone to grip better. This is the technique I used. After a successful walk on that steep area you celebrate with a nice smile of broken teeth.

No, it makes me a mechanical engineer, which is what I am. Side note: my current project involves sealing surfaces in one of the most abrasive environments in the world.

Got your ring? Coz it don't mean shit unless you've got the ring... and in my experience mechanical engineers are dime a dozen just like lawyers and their work is worth just about that. So, you go girl.

well done on being a mechanical engineer and for knowing some shit - so are you a fox or a yeti fanboy?

You are an idiot. You realize everything you have ever used was designed by an engineer, right? Your car, computer, pencil, desk, everything.

Great to be able to watch the bikes work in slow motion....but the music made it seem doomed and pointless. ..
