Is it just me or are those Launch kneepads a rebrand of 661's?

they look pretty similar but they look a lot narrower
  • 7 1
Not really, they look VERY similar.

POC has a set too. Companies realize that dh riders and racers are all about the knee, not so much shin. Seems to be the same with freeride if they opt for any gear. All their gear looks a lot better though, slimmed down.

 race face too .....trend?
  • 1 0
I guess it's just a design that works.

who would spend $149.99 USD on some shorts ?

word of the day kids... "shnarbly"

Fox released some newer graphic'd lids early in '09. Nice to see a carbon helmet along the choices with the composites. Great looking stuff, wear it proud.

The knee pads are really pretty different in a GOOD way compared to the 661's - I tried some at OutDoor demo this year and they are WAY more comfortable. Pedaled with them on for over an hour.

Oh also on the comment about the guys not wearing Fox helmets - they all have a different helmet sponsor, except if you check out any shot of Cam with a full face on he wears a Fox Rampage helmet - he just can't wear the Fox half shell. I think he is with Bell for that?

None of the guys are wearing fox helmets in the pic while they are riding. May not have to but looks bad for fox.
  • 3 0
If i could collect a pay cheque from Fox and Bell i sure would.
  • 1 0
Yeh, I noticed that too, thought it was pretty funny, I thought Fox might have picked up on that, but maybe not Razz
  • 4 0
like I stated, it has to do with contractual obligations. All of them have been signed with other helmet providers for a while. Cam does use the Fox Rampage for his full face though.
  • 2 0
It's still a Fox ad though, I would have thought that Fox would ask them to take their helmets off for the interview unless they were payed not to or wwanted to promote safety or something like that.
  • 2 0
RIders have various sponsors for different parts that's a given. Cam has a signature model DJ lid by TSG as does Mr. Zink (he rides for Troy Lee). McCaul has been with Fox since he turned pro, at that time they did not have a dedicated DJ lid, so he just like the other Fox riders got picked up with other helmet manufacturers.

Fox needs to go back to the drawing board on that body armor. Just as weak as the older version. More fluff than plastic. Rather own a Knox Warrior, and I do. Also I find the older Grio mad max helmets to look a hell of a lot better than these bulbous bobble head pieces that every maker copies. Not to mention you can pick up a carbon one for 125.

  • 1 0
a bike show by my house for like 40 dollar
  • 3 0
i like the crabon helmet the best, it costs soooo much though
  • 2 0
Yeah, that helmet is so sick. I can't find it anywhere for $380 though, only $425. Frown
  • 1 1
Canadian website so they're fudging the numbers eh?
  • 2 0
The prices are right out of the 2010 Fox Clothing catalog that is beside me, so I think that they are pretty accurate Smile Super nice helmet!
  • 1 0
That skate lid is craaazy light. Their AM/FR half-shell is really really impressive though, pity it isn't featured here. Feels fantastic.
  • 1 0
You mean the Transition which is featured or the Flux which isn't??
  • 1 1
not liking the full face graphics much, but the half shell looks pretty cool, as well as the jerseys. solid line-up for the '10 season.
  • 1 0
those are nice products, but honestly, who has $380 to spend on a helmet that'll end up getting wrecked
  • 2 0
Arn't TLD ones more than that, and people buy them religiously?
  • 1 0
you make a fair point my good sir, but its still out of my price range = (
  • 1 0
isnt trek putting a bike similar to cam's into production in 2010...
  • 1 0
that new dh helmet is the shit
  • 1 0
that DH helmet is just a moto helmet. No change in venting, just a less rigid shell. Stupid.
  • 1 0
 sic team.
  • 2 1
 prefer tld, the ...
  • 1 0
 nice helmets !
  • 1 1
 Liking the gloves!
  • 1 0
