Why are all highlight vids so short? I'm sure they have footage for ages, even all recorded. Why not at least show the best quali run from each athlete instead of 5 sec snippets of some of them and half of the 3 top runs? It drives me crazy!
Yeah, but it'd have been cool to see everybody else's runs too and see what they had in mind, particularly the newbies, some of them we won't get to see because of no proper recap from qualis and they not making it into the finals.
^its a paid event...but for those who cant make it...pay-per-view would have been really good...and yes i know there will be a DVD but id rather have reality TV.
Those new rux look quite good. I am thinking of rocking a set if they ever get released anytime soon. Anyone know of a rux release date? They havent made the 2013 by the look of it.
I hear what you're saying, but these days I think we often expect too much too soon for free! Sure there'll be plenty more footage to come, so stoked about the final it's gonna be awesome.
Think all those previously griping about the wooden features needn't worry either having seen these lines and someone of the crazy shit that's being built by some of the riders...
psyickphuk: Well yeah, but since they have the cameras and everything there and they're recording it, it' wouldn't kill them to give us each guys full run. We don't need full HD and multiangles first day, just the heli shot of the full run would do, just to see what they did to qualify as they did or why they didn't qualify. Of course the good stuff has to be saved for the DVD.
well that's one of those questions I keep on askin' me all the times... and also, how come the body armour technology is in constant evolution (the pads are a lot less restrictive than 10 years ago) and the people are constantly leaving them at home or better in the shops?
^nah...two things...these guys are strong, they may not look big, but they're packed, so can take an impact better than most and the dirt in utah soakes some of the impact better than most types of landing. try the same in uk dirt which has lots of rocks underneath your bones would shatter or worse youd kill yourself after most of these crashes.
For sure the pros are made of sterner stuff than us mere mortals... thing is though when they crash at rampage they tend to really eat shit rather than bail and roll out of it. Does seem mad not to wear anything, I hear what Pabail is saying but just look at the landscape, don't tell me there ain't no rocks!
Tough or not, it doesn't make sense to not wear protection in the most extreme event in the sport. I was surprised to see Cam wearing a Leat..
Thing is, these guys are paid to ride, so anything that reduces or stops down time is ultra important. I don't understand it, and as JuVerre said, they are lighter and better than ever. Madness, same goes of WC's where speeds are so high it should be mandatory.
@nojzilla - wiseman say 'Live to ride another day.'
It's hot out there and these guys are stronger and fitter than most of us. But the what they'r riding down is the biggest and sketchiest lines most of them will ride all year (Pilgram). It's all about image these days
Well, do you have Doerfling's skills and balls? I'm not criticising the kid, he's great, as WTTE shows, but he's had time to process what went wrong with his attempt and what Gee did to land it, that's all I'm saying. Gee didn't have that benefit, all he had before throwing down on it was Stevie Bell tell him "somebody almost killed himself trying that this morning" before he hit it, not quite the same.
Ehmm... if he had ridden it how it should his fork wouldn't have snapped, it snapped because he landed it too hard/off the angle. It wouldn't have snapped had he landed it good. I'm not taking any skill away from Doerfling, he has tremendous skill, but don't take anything away from Gee either, he was the one to go stomp it and show everybody how to do it. Remember Cedric on the 2010 DVD saying "hope someone tests it the Sender if not I'll have to go first as always"? Same with the quarter transfer, Gee was the first one to show everybody how to handle it.
I can see why he might not want to ride it, and respect the fact that he wants to stay focused on being a pure DJ and SS guy, but how can you possibly HATE it? Surely he can watch and enjoy it, mouth hanging open, like the rest of us?
Yeah, self-respecting competitor here should say they hate Rampage, those comments might haunt him for years since it's the biggest event. That would be like a racer saying he hates World's, just cause he crashed out in qualifying.
Poor sportsmanship & whining, IMHO. If he hates it I guess he will never come back. Show some respect for the riders who did qualify, instead of bringing attention to your own misery and poor performance.
Rampage's the diamond event so he wanted to get some points. After perfect season he crashed at Joyride, now he crashed at Ramage so he can be angry about all that.
Why isn't the qualifing live on red bull tv i can't wait for the finals tomorrow. Such a great riding from the wc downhillers or slopestylers... I'm stoked
Anyone else notice Cam's Fox 36's just transformed into Fox 40's? Maybe reassurance for those big gaps? Also, I swear the stepdown after his canyon was an even bigger gap? The speed he needed for the gap was surprisingly low! Or maybe the video just made it look that way..
Goddamn..I've wondered though, since the trend is to have 0 stack height or atleast almost 0 (I know there's no "real" other way), but why don't they setup their bikes with significantly higher bars/stack height for this event? They are doing or atleast close to vertical drops 70% of the course. Raise handlebars/stack height will obviously give them an advantage to reduce the likelihood of going over the handlebars (raise front-end too) and an overall better geometry in this situation of being less front balanced. I know they probably did change a little, but from the looks of it, not by anything notiecable.
I remember going to N* and doing some bigger drops. That time, I had a higher stack height + higher handlebars and it helped immensely on those vertical drops.
Northstar doesn't have any big drops. jk.
But when you're used to a particular setup on your bike you don't wanna go changing it right before an event like Rampage.
I was about to circulate a rumor that riders with tank tops always crash but Doerfling ruined it for me! It always freaks me out watching guys riding at comps without even shoulder coverage. Great line anyway!
i thought doerfling had a way better line but dude hes gonna die from like infection once hjes fucking falls man he wears nothing its crazy also is vanderham prequaled cuz i wanna see him
Who was the first to drop the oakley feature and crash so hard in the top video? (sorry if this some one already answered I couldn't find it) and any news on how he is doing?

I hope they make a highlight reel of all the crashes this year, sounds like their were some awful ones. Glad nobody was seriously hurt.
Yea I'm gonna guess this is why haha.

there is some more on here.
