are a very small number of the people watching their channel and making up their ratings. Besides they got have time to edit it for all of the best
material to put on TV in a small time frame, cause you know they are not going to show it all commercial free. Be happy they are bringing it to the masses......

 As big of a douche as Protour is being, i agree with part of what he is saying. It would be nice to see this as "au natural" competition. Leave the wood booters to crankworx and make this about sculpting all your lines and jumps out of what is there.

 it's not like you have to hit the wooden objects... Darren's whole line in 2010 avoided them... if people want a natural line all they have to do is choose one...

Protour, chill out and get the sand out of your vagina. This contest is going to be sick, whether they have a few wood ramps, or no wood ramps. Just be thankful that Red Bull is willing to put on such a sick event for YOUR entertainment. They don't have to do this, so just be grateful they are doing it at all, and enjoy it.

All that being said, I'm so stoked for this event. I wanna see someone flip the canyon gap. I'm also interested to see how dirt jumpers like Thomas Genon handle the course. I could see him throwing down hard.

 Hey guys there seems to be a bit of confusion! But just so you know Red Bull Rampage will be streaming live globally on Sunday October 7 from 1pm MT / 9 pm CET. The stream is available globally, allowing you to watch it as it happens on both redbullusa.com/rampage and redbullsignatureseries.com.

US audiences will also be able to see all the best action highlights shot in HD on NBC on Saturday, December 8th at 2pm ET. Global audiences will be able to watch the NBC highlight program on demand 24 hrs after the show.

 Don't get me wrong Cheapevil, I'm totally psyched that it is being broadcast on a mainstream network. The Rampage and the type of riding done there is completely alien to a lot of people. Sometimes I forget how small our tribe really is.

 Sadly it looks to be true. Everyone else will get to watch the entire contest while those of us in the US will be stuck waiting until December, only to have NBC give us an over-edited turd with a bunch of Masekala and a ton of other commentary no one cares about. If it ends up anything like the way they produced the Supernatural snowboard event we'll be lucky if we see half the runs on TV. I still don't understand why they are blacking out rampage but they didn't block out Joyride, which will be aired on NBC the same way in October.

 I feel like the U.S. is getting it all wrong in terms of their online acts, laws, bills, etc. They are totally big brother a la 1984. I really hope our red neck prime minister doesn't get any more ideas. I don't have cable (or any tv channels) so if they blocked online streaming for major events in Canada I'd be stuck ordering cable to watch which I really don't want. damn.
All this to say, that sucks for you guys. I had no idea that was happening already! Big Brother is watching (and wants your money.)

 Rbka- it doesn't have anything to do with laws or the government. It's a contract that NBC has Redbull to air the event on network television in the US in December. They want people to watch the crappy over-produced mess they put on the air in December so they withhold the live feed from us.

 Rampage takes mountain biking back to its roots, natural terrain. Othere events focus more on man made jumps for tricks.

 See if he had said "Only real freeride mountain bike event" that might be accurate, but as it is, he's including everything, and i'd say something like enduro is closer to the real mountain bike event. He probably just needs to be more specific

 TristanL...Dont kid yourself...the features/landings/lines/everything in Rampage are just as "man-made" as any other bike contest. Even most of the lines in "Where the trail ends" have been "touched up" by digging out a landing or building/shaping a take-off.

 Uh... mike, that's not what he meant, of course the hits are technically formed by man but the Rampage uses the natural terrain to build lines. Its not massive double jumps or boner logs on the side of a ski slope... you're riding ridges and the natural terrain in whatever way you see the whole way down, despite there being some actual man-made features. And to voltage- its only talking shit if you want to take it that way, haha.

 Yea I think Scott here hits it on the head. Have to distinguish between 'man made' and 'un-natural'. It's different. Shaping dirt and lines On the side of a mountain is still natural, even if man made. There is nothing natural about wooden monstrosities in the middle of the desert. As long as its limited I'm ok with it. My only worry about it would be that it will cause guys to ride the same lines feeling they have to make their way down to the bottom 'senders' to score well.

 I get exactly what TristanL is trying to say. You know, honestly, in the big picture, I've had more fun riding in Vail, CO, than at whistler. No "A" line. It seems everything these days is about "flowy" "jumps" going long distances duration wise. I mean seriously, I grew up where MTB was invented... and it wasn't on fire roads etc. Some of the oldies road hard shit... on basically rigid bikes. Some of the best videos and people I have seen have come out of the birthplace of MTB. People forget because people never witnessed the stuff people used to ride RIGID.

Whistler = fad. Walking up 15 miles of trail to hit your fav run = win. Something whistler moved away from. I still remember vail from years ago. A few > > trails that required top skill at less than 5mph to get through sections because they were gnar kill... no WC shit there,,, it was 10x harder than WC. Tight shit, riding through more tight shit, followed by true WC bomber runs, followed by more tight shit. True shit. People have lost there sence of "mountain". Even Rampage has got a little soft. with this, but then again they are adding hardcore manmade shit on it and backflipping it. Best of both worlds. Still doesn't compare to the days of "jaw dropping" bender flights. Not even remotely close.

Where is the integrity? Has Red Bull sold out, just to get their logo on more stupid wooden ramps. If this is the way it goes down, then there is no longer a "real" freeride event any longer. Especially if someone wins cause of a backflip off one of the toothpick ramps!

If this continues we're gonna have to call it Wooden RAMP-age!

 protour does have a slight bit of a point with the rest plain trolling, I think the winner should be the guy who sends it the biggest not the guy who puts down more tricks but then again zink and bearclaw send it pretty big and they still trick it so now its hard to judge really

No trail, no structures, just man, bike and mountain. It was the purest and most badass incarnation. That is now lost. Sorry, but that's how I feel. I wish I could burn down those ramps I really do.

 I agree, the event has become an unfortunate shadow of its old self. The only bad thing about watching the old forage is seeing everyone on narrow handlebars....but actually that makes it even crazier!

Watching the lines of this years vid, it's amazing at how much smaller everything is. Sure, some stuff might be steeper (that seems to be a trend, ultra steep so you don't smash on your landing) but still, I think when bender disappeared from the scene, something died. No more plow bike stuff. I mean, single crowning in rampage... come on, if your single crown is strong enough for something, it's not big enough for an even of this caliber.
